Low Mile Short Block and Head... $75 each

I have a 3AC short block and head for sale. They came from a 153k mile Tercel, and the engine ran when I pulled the car home. All the valves are Toyotas (head appears never to have been off), and there are no signs of any burned valves. The cam isn't included. The short block has no ridge, and the c...

The only time I had it happen on mine (my mother-in-law was driving the Tercel, and left the lights on at work) I pulled the fusible link for the a/c and used it instead. Then I drove to AutoZone and picked up a replacement. I keep a spare in the glovebox now. And that's why I never let anybody else...

It'll be one of the fusible links in the box under the hood. Should cost a few bucks at AutoZone.

Install a new thermostat, and only use one from the Toyota dealer. It'll cost a few bucks more than aftermarket, but it'll last a lot longer. If you don't know when it was last replaced, it'll be cheap insurance.

The best I ever got out of an automatic Tercel wagon was 28mpg on all-highway driving, and that was 14 years ago on a Tercel with only 130k miles on it, with a great carburetor. If you're getting 20mpg in highway driving, you're at least 5mpg shy of what you should be getting. If that's city driving...

Yep, it's that easy. You'll have to remove a few hogrings and replace them when you reassemble the seat, but the upholstery and foam are identical side to side.

I am talking about replacing the front and rear ring and pinion in the differentials, sometimes referred to as the "final drive". I do not think that it being a manual or auto trans would make any difference since the differentials are is separate housings. Usually when referring to the &...

Well, that's what the installer told me, and then I called Jasper to verify, as I thought the Silent Shafts were so important and integral to the motor. I'm giving a cursory glance in the FSM (I bought those back in '88 from Dodge - $35 compared to the gold-edged Toy FSMs), and it does not appear t...

I was living on my own during the 1990 census, and I didn't return the form. I returned to my apartment a few times to find a note taped to my door asking me to call to schedule an in-person census. I didn't. It wasn't till somebody knocked on my door at 10:30 PM that I realized they weren't going t...

The higher final drive only applies if you're talking about a manual transmission in a 4WD Tercel. The automatics didn't change, and you won't gain anything by swapping in an earlier final drive.

You're probably being offered the 3A-SCV. I've seen a couple at the junkyards, and they're the only 3A engines I've seen with the wavy head. Yeah, I think that must be it. Have you looked in the head of one of those? Crazy - each intake runner has an aluminum vane that sticks down into the passage ...

Remanufactured Clutch Kit- $50 Shipped CONUS

I have a remanufactured stock clutch kit (pressure plate, disk, throwout bearing, alignment tool) that I bought to use in my own Tercel. I picked it up a couple of years ago, figuring I'd need it soon. My clutch is still pulling fine, and I'll be installing the clutch that came with my 4AC, so this ...

The difference between the 4AC and 4ALC is just the different designation based on which way they point in the engine bay. The 4ALC is the transverse mounted version. BTW, there's absolutely no difference between them if you're doing a Tercel swap. The distributors mount in the same place, regardles...
