Re: intermittent rear wiper: how to?

Tonight I finished installing the rear wiper delay circuit. Unfortunately this was not an easy install. I heavily modified the original wiring and added a few components. Being an electronics engineering technician I was able to bust this build out, but I probably won't post a wiring diagram because...

Re: Factory Repair Manual?

My light blue T4 is an '87, standard SR5. I live in Vancouver, Washington, but I bought the car in Portland. I carfaxed it before buying it. it's only had two owners. The first owner had it here in Vancouver the entire time he owned it so there is virtually no rust. The car needed some TLC for sure....

Re: intermittent rear wiper: how to?

Still haven't put the rear wiper circuit in yet. Lent the car out to a friend who needed a loaner for a minute. Should have the circuit in my tercel next week sometime. I shot a quick and crummy video while I tested my circuit and provided the link below. Always a good thing to make sure it works be...

Re: 3ac engine: valve interference or not?

My '87 for sure has a 17mm crankshaft pulley bolt. Did my timing belt/water pump recently and 17mm it was.

Re: intermittent rear wiper: how to?

Unfortunately every relay is just that, a relay. They need some sort of timer to control their switching. The T4's front wiper relay is mounted on a small printed circuit board behind the steering wheel and just in from the wiper control lever. I tried to find it in the factory service manual, but n...

Re: intermittent rear wiper: how to?

I also think the rear wiper controls suck! I live in the Pacific NW and drive in lots of rain. I noticed that even in heavy rain I only need the rear wiper to wipe periodically to maintain rear vision. I accomplish this with a troublesome push of the rear wiper mist button! sucks...and also keeps me...

Re: welcome to the world of 4WD tercels/FAQ

This tercel4wd.com is awesome! I fell in love with this car model when searching for a new used car. Who needs a Haynes or Chilton manual when you have the FSM and this site. I purchased an 87 Wagon 4x4 recently and have had no real trouble working on the car because of this site. New: timing belt, ...

Re: 3ac engine: valve interference or not?

Thanks for the info on the 3AC motor not being an interference motor. I am pretty new to working on cars and am currently tearing into my newly acquired 87 tercel wagon. I need to change my timing belt (worn but not broken) and noticed oil leaking around the cam and crank shafts (crankshaft seal lea...

Factory Repair Manual?

Hello Everyone. I am new to tercel4wd.com On many posts I keep reading that the FSM (factory service manual) is available at the top of every page. I cannot seem to find it. Is this something that no longer exists? If it does can someone help describe to me better how to find it...Sometimes the thin...
