1987 Tercel 4wd in Seattle

I saw the original ad for this one. The pictures looked great, and the write up sounded too good to be true.

Re: Aisin clutch kit question

I assumed they were, and I was happy to find it at Rockauto for $95. I just made sure to order more parts, the rear main seal and parts for a tuneup, to make their shipping charge tolerable.

Aisin clutch kit question

I just received an Aisin clutch kit in the mail from Rockauto, and the clutch disk doesn't look like the pictures I have seen. In place of springs, it looks like a rubber material was used. Does anyone have any experience with these clutch disks?

Liquid sealant advice

I managed to break one of the ports on my TVSV. I tried some JB weld, but it didn't hold. My local Toyota dealer claimed that the part was discontinued too. Is that true? Re: Time to stop lurking...

I paid $1,000.

I think the only text in the craigslist ad said, "It's all there. It all works", which I thought was great. I only found out about the parts that he replaced through an email. Nice, straightforward guy. He was maintaining it to last another 60k as his daily driver. If I recall, the ...

Re: Time to stop lurking...

Thanks for the replies everyone. Here is what the PO said prior to the sale:

"I am the second owner. I bought the car with 155,000 miles on it. At that point I put a used transaxle, clutch, water pump, and timing belt in it. Since then, at various mileages, the power steering rack and pinion ...

Time to stop lurking...

Hi Everyone,

Thanks (or no thanks) to this forum, I talked myself into buying a 1985 sr5 Tercel Wagon. It has a lot of miles (238k), but it was owned by a mechanic in Silverdale, and he replaced a lot of parts over the 12 years that he owned it. The interior is really clean, and it even came with ...
