Re: COLOR-CODED FEDERAL VACUUM DIAGRAMS : HOOD AND FSM (BOTH)
With fear in my heart, I finally succumbed to the urge to remove all the stock vacuum crud from a stock 2bbl carb. Refusing to label any thing, I referred to these sage pages of advice and pushed on... Using new tubing, I hooked the bottom vacuum advance at distributor to the engine vacuum line, any...

Re: 86 4WD Wagon
I know... we did a lot of work on this car, only to have the trans I got with 175k go bad in 6 mo. If someone puts in a Petros trans with (hopefully) an external oil pump, it would be a great daily driver!

Re: Transmission Blues
Also, has any one tried to come up with a way to deliver more gear oil to the top end of these transmissions?

Transmission Blues
It seems sad that Toyota just does not support the 4wd manual transmissions with replacement parts. I can't help but wonder that with all the old Terc's out there that need them, that there is no source for the parts to do a transmission repair right, the first time... I just wonder if there is some...

Re: 1986 Tercel 4WD Wagon
I am not really sure what its worth just yet, so I figured I would bring it to the attention of the group. The car runs, drives and is legal, just can't use 1st gear...

1986 Tercel 4WD Wagon
Time to think about selling the Tercel. Without access to new trans parts, I am replacing junk with funk and the old knuckles grow tired.... So, make us an offer we can not refuse, (tires and rims alone are worth $800.00) photos will follow in a day or 2. We are in the part of Bothell near Mill Cree...

Re: Free 86 SR5
Those 16" wiper arms are hard to find. I pulled some off a Nissan at the junkyard and they have the same knurled post and threads. Cleaned and painted and they work great on the '86. Now, if only I could remember what that Nissan was.....

I have to give kudos to the people in this group! Your technical expertise, support and advice, encouragement and detailed knowledge have been instrumental in our putting our 86 Tercel back into service! After a summer of setbacks, parts scrounging and a huge amount of reference to the repair guides...

Pops out of 5th
Our 86 started popping out of 5th even when we try to hold it in gear. Any input as to how to proceed will be greatly appreciated. I am an experienced mechanic, but new to Tercels and not a transmission guy!
