Re: 1986 Tercel 4wd Tri-Cities WA. $300
Still For Sale January 2021. Someone save this Junker please and take it off my hands. It does have rust on the drivers side frame just under the battery (more than you'd like to see). I also changed out the heater core at one time by going through the firewall just so you know. Let me know if anyon...

Re: 1986 Tercel 4wd Tri-Cities WA. $300
Its definitely not perfect. Has some dents. Its not a rust bucket for sure. I don't believe there's anything wrong with the transmission though I never put it in 4wd. It has a hardly run alternator. A brass fitting off a corrola to replace the plastic ones that break. I know I could part it out just...

1986 Tercel 4wd Tri-Cities WA. $300
Last chance. 1986 Toyota Tercel 3AC non running but complete. No plates, must trailer or tow. Cracked windshield, cracked head or block, can't keep a head gasket on it. Drivers window has problems. Been sitting 4 or 5 years. Around 174,000 miles. Before I purchased the vehicle it had been in an acci...

Re: 1986 Toyota Tercel 4wd Needs Head Gasket Pasco WA
I am near Arlington, about 20 min North of Everett WA. There is an active market for these cars in the Puget Sound area, good runners get high prices and sell quickly. That is why I am tempted to go there, replace the head gasket and drive it back, it will add to the supply available around here. I...

Re: 1986 Toyota Tercel 4wd Needs Head Gasket Pasco WA
I'm trying not to take it to the junkyard but there's not huge interest over here on the east side of Washington State. I picked up a different newer car so this one needs to go.Rednecklawrence wrote: ↑Mon Oct 16, 2017 11:26 pm You just HAVE to be in the states, don't you? Good luck finding it a good home though

Re: 1986 Toyota Tercel 4wd Needs Head Gasket Pasco WA
can it be driven with the bad head gasket? could it be driven by doing the occasional stop and topping it up, or is it so far gone it is barely running? Do you know how bad it is? If I can find a ride over there, I can either bring it here and fix it, or have to replace the head gasket there and di...

I've done both. Both seem to last about the same amount of time.

1986 Toyota Tercel Wagon Washington State (Tri-Cities)
Up for sale 1986 Toyota Tercel. Has a blown head gasket. Still runs good but wouldn't drive it far. Items that have been replaced in the last few years include alternator, muffler, water pump, timing belt, exhaust valves, radiator, heater core. I had to change the overflow tank and washer fluid tank...

Re: Intake or Exhaust Valve - Can I replace/Typical Cost
Put my order in for parts. Think I am going to give your advice a try and see how it goes. Parts won't be here for at least a week. I didn't find new valve springs or order new intake valves only exhaust valves. Have you typically had to replace the springs? I am probably just going to reuse the exi...

Re: Intake or Exhaust Valve - Can I replace/Typical Cost
Didn't realize they ran at such hot temperatures. Your probably correct that the previous owner didn't replace them because there's a few other things like seals which are super inexpensive he didn't replace. I found the valves and valve stems at Orilleys cheaper than Napa. Will I have to have the n...

Re: Intake or Exhaust Valve - Can I replace/Typical Cost
The engine has approximately 170,000. I replaced the head gasket not to long ago and followed your guidelines. Very helpful. Only thing I didn't do was put the extra holes in the gasket. Do you think this would have helped prevent this? When I set the timing last it was set to 10 almost 11 degrees. ...

Intake or Exhaust Valve - Can I replace/Typical Cost
Hey all, 1986 Tercel 3AC driving in cold weather started losing power/running rough and smoking white exhaust. After a head removal discovered a burnt valve on the second cylinder. I'm not sure if it's the intake or exhaust valve as I am just a beginner mechanic. I think it was caused by a loose exh...
