Re: Any leads on window glass?

Excellent video and post. Since labor is cheap here, I will duct tape the windshield in and drive it to an installer here. Had no idea about the dam and stuff until I saw the video.

Re: Any leads on window glass?

Still confused. I spent a few hours chiseling out the old black gasket. The universal gasket is too thin and narrow on the frame side allowing the windshield to sit too far in. It is maybe 1/3 the thickness of the gasket I chiseled out. So where do I get a factory gasket? I do have sealant, but that...

Re: Any leads on window glass?

They sold a lot of these in Costa Rica. I found a source for windshields new for $70! However the universal windshield gasket they provided me is not a good solution and doesn't fit right. So... Where to get a gasket that the windshield sits in/on like the original?

Re: perplexing engine problem(s)

I can't find an image of the intake manifold support to know what it looks like. I tried to find it on my tercel but didn't see it. Any help?

Re: Simplifying Carb Connections

Petros (and others), thanks for all your help, appreciated. I have studied the manual and have some familiarity with these components. This is the latest model car I have ever owned and it is kind of overwhelming compared to my previous vehicles.

Re: Simplifying Carb Connections

The car was originally US spec automatic from New Mexico. It has an ECU. I had previously checked for vacuum leaks in the hoses, diaphragm, bolts etc. Maybe I missed something. I can leave the essential stuff connected, just need to know what it is. Trying to avoid buying a TSVS or whatever it is ca...

Simplifying Carb Connections

I live in an area with no smog inspections and the temperature rarely goes below 65F, and NO smog inspections. I think my TSVS gizmo is funky and may also have a vacuum leak somewhere. I would like to disconnect as many vacuum lines as possible and other extraneous things. Also want to convert to a ...

Auto choke removal

Still battling choke issues. Maybe don't need it at all. I live where the year around temps are usually 65 to 75 degrees (Latin America). My motorcycles don't need the choke at all here. *The choke isn't getting 12v. Checked ohms per manual and around 22. Choke not moving at all. *checked fuses, all...

Choke coil housing - how to remove

My 84 tercel Aisin carb has what looks like rivets on the coil housing. How to get it off the carb? Also, weird symptom. Engine is warm, choke butterfly is partially open. When I open it all the way by hand, engine stalls!! Probably not related. I discovered my power valve was stuck. Engine started,...

Re: Testing Low Fuel Warning Light

I checked the manual and it seems to me rather than pulling the sender unit all the way out, all I have to do is turn the ignition on pull the sender up so the sensor is above the fuel level in the tank and see if the low fuel light comes on. No need to test with it fully removed. Any problems with ...

Testing Low Fuel Warning Light

I have an idea. Rather than running the fuel tank way low can I jumper the sender unit from the top of the gas tank to at least test that the wiring and light works. If so what contacts do I jumper? Also a question: at what point on the fuel guage does your light come on? I have run below E on the g...

Re: 4afe compatible with auto tranny?

The rear differential is standard in that the wheel with the least resistance will spin, I believe, like most non positraction type differentials. I am not sure about this as driving with 4WD on dry pavement is not recommended. I am confused. This raises a question, which is: does the front wheel dr...

Extra water temp sensor?

I am trying to figure out what the second horizontal sensor is on the water outlet connected to the front of the head. Page 655 of the manual shows only one, while I have two. They are both horizontal. (there is a vertical one also, which appears to be the high temp sensor). I believe the one on the...

Accidental ground in fuel guage and park brake light

First my parking brake light wouldn't go off when the brake was released. Then the fuel gauge read half way up when engine was first started. Now it is always pegged. I have the wiring diagram but it doesn't tell me physically where I should look first on the wiring harness. It looks like I have a g...
