Re: *?!@#! Control Arm Bolts Just Spin - AARGH!
Thanks, Petros. When you refer to the using inner bolts holding the bushing sleeve are you referring to the end of the control arm where it attaches to the body or the nut at the end of the sway bar? I'm guessing the latter... I am excited to get out at first light and break those ball joints loose...

Re: *?!@#! Control Arm Bolts Just Spin - AARGH!
O.K., guys. Thanks. After a bout of stomach flu I went back to the salvage yard today. Taking tension off the control arms really helped. I was able to get a good quality sway bar AND control arms. Now it's time to put it all back together. I have everything disconnected. Control arms (with old ball...

*?!@#! Control Arm Bolts Just Spin - AARGH!
Hi folks, Went to the junk yard yesterday (in snow) and found a low mile (89,xxx) Tercel 4WD. What looked good is the bushings at the control arm / sway bar junction. I figured that might mean the sway bar and control arms weren't making contact with one antoehr adn I could remove as a set. I got al...

Re: Radiator fan runs constantly
Petros, Many thanks. O.k., I'm on it. I especially like changing things that don't require a contortionist. This seems easy. I checked Napa since they seem to have things in stock that Auto Zone or Advance doesn't. They show two items when I do a search on 'temperature switch'. One is called a 'Cool...

Radiator fan runs constantly
Hi folks, Coming home from work two days ago I overheated. Traced it to the cooling fan not coming on. changed the relay and now it runs constantly even if engine not running but key turned on. Hot or cold. Any guesses what I might try next?Maybe the last relay burned out because it was running all ...

Turn Signal Woes - Flasher Location?
Guys, I'm sure this question has been asked before and really I did scour the archives but what I thought was going to be a simple fix has turned into something quite a bit more. My turn signals would flash normal then stop. The best guess I had was the flashed relay was overheating. I went to the F...

Re: How's your bushings?
Yep, my sunroof is electric and factory since I have the original window sticker. It has a safety button that needs to be depressed to close. Sounds like you have the same thing. On my '84 it was a $415. option. I also have the tilt-inclinometer. That was part of the SR5 package. The only thing that...

WANTED: Set of 4 alloy wheels for an '84...
Folks, Just picked up an '84 Tercel 4Wd with alloy wheels. I am looking fro another set of 4 to mount some snow tires. I think the allloys on '83-'86 were all the same. Interested in the center caps, too. I'm in the Denver area. How's that for wishing for the moon? Anyone have a set in the middle of...

Re: OE Front Suspension Bushings, Coil Insulator, & Ball Joi
O.K., I've listed in red prices in 2011 for the parts Tom has listed below. My prices are in parentheses in red for the quanity noted. Hard to imagine why they would raise the cost 23% but I guess it costs more to track, house and inventory since the parts were made a long time ago. Could they be ge...

Re: How's your bushings?
O.K., guys. Sorry for the long overdue update. I did this job and the tips and tricks were really helpful. Using a strap really helped get it all back together. The downside to this job is now I'm hooked. Being an ex-Toyota Van 4WD guy working on the Tercel was sooo much easier. The other interestin...

Re: How's your bushings?
O.K., I went to the junk yard today. Nice and cool. Got there before the winds picked up and started to blow dust around. What I found is that one strut had already been removed. Anyway, I was able to get the sway bar / control arms off as a unit but likely not in the way you instructed. It raised a...

Re: How's your bushings?
Hey Guys, Really appreciate all the advice. I suspect the junkyard will have the vehicle up in the air with front tires dangling. Can I just put a jack under one tire to relieve pressure on that side control arm? Would I need to do the same for the other side? What will cause the pain... tension on ...

Re: How's your bushings?
Hey Guys, Thanks for all the great info. It was exactly what I was looking for. The dummy proof approach. Now I can only blame myself if I screw up :). I did verify the parts are still available. So that's good. I am going to a junk yard here in Denver tomorrow. They have both an '85 4WD and a '86 n...

Re: How's your bushings?
Hi folks, First time poster. Thanks for the great site. '85 4wd that needs some TLC. This is just the thread I needed. I am going to order the bushings today. The blow up on the parts catalog is a bit fuzzy for me. I need (4) bushings and two collars to do both ends of my sway bar, right? If so, I a...
