Re: Tercel cranks, but won't start.
Thank you Petros. I very much appreciate the detail. Breaking the fuel delivery into sections like that make sense to me.
When I go to the autoparts store is there a specific size fuel line I need? I can eyeball the size, just want to make sure I don't leave with something of the wrong diameter.

Tercel cranks, but won't start.
I am grateful in advance for any help. Vehicle: 1986 Tercel wagon, automatic, 2wd. Vehicle sat for three years. -Cranks. Will run for a few seconds with starter fluid. Then dies. -I added a few gallons of fresh gas. What should my next step be? Is the fuel pump mechanical or electric? Where is it lo...

Synchros -any availability? potential fixes?
I have an 83 that appears to have synchro issues, in the form of some grinding, particularly down-shifting into 2nd. From what I've read here it seems that parts are simply not available. Is this basically a 'find one at the junkyard and cross your fingers' type of situation at this point? I was thi...

Re: 1AC Tercel suggested oil weight?
Thanks. Impossible to tell the miles, 5 digit odometer showing 78k. Owner said it hadn't flipped, but he's not the original owner and there's no way to know. I sort of assume it has flipped. I use 15w-40 Delo in my 3AC (for the extra zinc). Seem ok for the 1AC? Summer is here, most days 70s, some 80...

1AC Tercel suggested oil weight?
Picked up a 1980 Tercel...1AC engine. How similar is this to the 3AC? Which oil/weight would you use?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: Thermostat location? Coolant flow direction?
Thanks, foolproof seems like a good design on Toyota's part.
I have power steering and AC, so there's lot's in the way. I'll just calmly contort a way in, or remove the power steering tank if absolutely necessary. I don't want to mess with the AC lines.

Re: Thermostat location? Coolant flow direction?
Lower radiator hose housing. Hot coolant flows to the top of the radiator and flows out through the bottom after cooling. Thanks. Is the correct install to have the spring end of the thermostat facing into the engine block, or towards to radiator? Any advice on reaching the backside 10mm bolt on an...

Thermostat location? Coolant flow direction?
For an 83 wagon, is the thermostat under the upper (housing with sensors attached) or lower radiation hose housing?
Also, which way does coolant flow?
Thanks

Re: 83 SR5 - 96K miles - One Owner
Their Yelp reviews were posted on CL and give me some pause. The 'not recommended' reviews (whatever that means): http://www.yelp.com/not_recommended_reviews/dDJ5hC7asJ_b3M9xIR2XNg And others: http://www.yelp.com/biz/topoli-motors-pleasant-hill-2 It was repainted, and one wonders what it looked like...

Source for thermostatic valve?
My thermostatic valve ( 90925-02076 ) is broken. The plastic housing is cracked so the spring loaded portion won't stay down. The vehicle is idling very roughing and stalling as a result. The cheapest I can find online is $106. Seems high for a little valve. The local dealer wants $141. Any sources?...

Re: Crushed fins on newly installed radiator?
Thanks Blade, I'll check mine, but I think they're not crossed. It seems the attachments on the bottom of the radiator just go out at any angle that makes them appear that way.

Re: Normal temperature gauge fluxuation?
Thanks for the info 4wdChico, much appreciated. Is this the splash shield? Or is it further back underneath? http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/aa153/RandomDestiny4/DSC02022.jpg So, is it ok for the engine to fluctuate around a bit above and below the midpoint in normal, everyday driving? Or, would ...

Re: Normal temperature gauge fluxuation?
Thanks. So, I am not looking for a standard t-stat? What exactly is it (terminology) that I need (forgive my being new to this> 1986, automatic. Thanks. Go to rockauto.com and look up the thermostat for the t44wd, you will notice that all the t'stats shown are the bottom bypass type. Bet your bent r...
