Re: PNW Meet Up

Maybe we could align this meeting around a car show? The Old School Reunion (classic Japanese/euro car show) is being held at the LeMay Museum grounds in Tacoma, WA on June 12, 2022. http://www.speedhunters.com/2019/06/seattle-style-the-old-school-reunion/ It would be cool to meet up before hand and...

The sooner we can lock in a date, the better. I'm interested, but the calendar fills up pretty quickly.

Re: Power Windows/Locks with FOB

I did this on my ae95 corolla wagon, and it was terrible. The kit came from China so that's probably why. Anyway, it took a while to install, probably 6 hrs or so, worked great for a little while and was really nice, but within a few months one lock stopped working, and with a few more months none ...

Re: WTB: Working Cold Mixture Heater (CMH, carb base heater)

I'm just working my way through the Emissions chapter of the FSM, measuring, adjusting, replacing as needed. It's probably NOT needed, but might as well have it all working, or swap to a Weber.

I think I can help out with the rear mud flaps. Let me confirm I still have them.

Re: Manual trans freezing overnight.

I had this happen a couple years ago when we had freezing temps for a month solid and I was commuting in the Tercel. I didn't have the shifter "cup" filled with water, but what DID happen to me was the "shift lever return spring assembly" (basically a hollow bolt, filled with a s...

Re: Which Gear Oil or Differential Oil should I use? Personal Conclusions and discussion. Molybdenum additive use?

If you're going to run ATF, I'd suggest supplementing it with a thicker gear oil. The combined viscosity of 0w ATF and most off-the-shelf gear oil will be well below the factory suggested weight. Just a thought. I'm still running the MT-90, and I'm still happy with my choice. While the 3rd gear spee...

How's your windshield wiper switch? By chance is it the optional, adjustable-intermittent version?

Re: Turbo Tercel

If it's cheap to build, easily forgotten when it breaks, and you don't rely on it to get around, then I say go for it. Sounds fun. That said, I'm old enough to know that it is much more reliable/tunable to simply swap in a more powerful powertrain. There are reasons why fuel injection and turbocharg...

Re: Looking to buy a 4WD in good working condition

Apologies to the OP, though I did message you about a wagon for sale. ---------------------------- Nobody has published an easily found video of a Tercel wagon crash test. This 1981 Cressedia was designed concurrently with the AL25. As a larger, more premium vehicle in the day, one can assume it wou...

Re: Looking to buy a 4WD in good working condition

Airbags would be a great improvement over nothing, at the time no state had mandatory seat belt laws, and I recall one of the arguments were the airbag was of most benefit to those who did not wear seat belts. That's why we have airbags now, as a SRS (supplemental restraint system). Clearly, one do...
