Re: Free***WOW
I didn't think it would last long. Yeah driving the Alcan Highway is an adventure. Ive done it twice and if your not in a hurry it can be a great trip. If your trying to make time its a real meat grinder. Surprisingly there are quite a few Tercel Wagons running around up here. There are great Alaska...

Free***WOW
So I was cruising the local craigslist today and looky what I found.
This is a great deal for us Terc heads. I would be all over it but I have running car and a parts car already and if I bring 2 more home my neighbor might shoot me.

Re: Brake Pedal Sinking to floor
On a car this old I would be replacing the brake lines anyway. They are easy to replace. But if you want to find where the problem is it is the easiest way, if I was afraid that my brake line would "burst" after they had been pinched lightly for a few minuets.... Id be a bit afraid to driv...

Re: Stuck in 1st gear
Before I see any parts I want to take stock with both of them side by side and see what I need first. Its cold and dark most of the time up here so its going to be a while. As soon as I see exactly what I have and I don't need it I be happy to let some stuff go. Ill keep you informed.

Re: Stuck in 1st gear
Good news... and stupid me for not looking sooner. My "84" is actually an 85. Born on date is 11/85... and my "87" is 87 with a born on date of 9/86. So I think all the parts should interchange just fine. It funny both the tittles are wrong for each car. Now if I could just get s...

Re: Brake Pedal Sinking to floor
A way to test where the problem is You can take 4 pairs of vise grips and pinch each brake line on the rubber part. It the pedal feel right after you do that then the air or leak is somewhere downstream of the clamps. You can remove on clamp at a time to find the problem. If it is still mushy with t...

Re: Stuck in 1st gear
You are right. The 87 and the 84 do not have the same gear ratios. I need to look at the carbs a little closer to see if they will swap. I plan on putting a weber 32 36 on the 84. It is going to be my main driver. It has a strait body and a factory sun roof so it will be the car. Upgrading the drive...

Re: Stuck in 1st gear
It was my full intention to use the 87 as a parts car since its body has been abused. I am the 84's second owner so there is a little more known about it. But the 84 also has no carb on it right now... I guess I could swap the carb... But I think I would rather go with a weber. I would like to fix t...

Stuck in 1st gear
I just picked up a 87 SR5. The tranny is stuck in 1st gear. The clutch works as you can disengage the driveline once the clutch is in, but when you try to move the transmission into another gear its like there is nothing connected to the other end of the gear shift. Any ideas before I start. I am ma...

Re: Cold Starting weber 32/36
carb heat This is an interesting concept. Ill have to look into this a bit. So the flap would be full open at start up so when its available warm air would be pulled into the aircleaner and then once normal engine temperatures are reached it could be closed? I think it will be fine down to 0 or so.....

Cold Starting weber 32/36
Hi, Im a little new here and my 84 Tercel is going to be getting a new carb soon and I was wondering if anyone has experience with starting a Tercel with an aftermarket carb on it like the Weber 32/36. I live in Fairbanks AK and we get some wicked cold winters -40C and I was wonder how they started ...

Re: Member Profiles
I was talking to a coworker on day about general car problems when he mentioned that he had a Tercel that he bought in 1984 off the lot in Fairbanks AK that he doesn't drive anymore. Ive always been a Toyota fan and love the simplicity of the Tercel wagon design and think of it as one of the first t...
