Well, I adjusted the wipers a few weeks ago and have used them in several rainstorms lately. Unfortunately, the wipers still do not quite cover the whole area they should. They work just not real well. At some point I will have to tear off the cowl. This will be another interesting project to work o...

Well my 1985 2wd 5 speed has 197,600. It uses very little oil, doesnt' leak any at all and get 32MPG on the highway. Also, about 25 around town which still isn't too bad considering its always on the floor!

Please excuse my overly wordy post the other day for a profile. From now on I shall try to focus on keeping messages relatively short and sweet. Perhaps it takes too long to read otherwise.

Well, it does seem that some cars may have worn out parts on them. I can say that for mine though it is still in pretty good shape. I am concerned about some parts but so far haven't had any problems finding what has been needed for minor repairs etc. In fact, I gotta find a mirror for the driver si...

Well I changed the distributor cap, rotor, wires and spark plugs on Tuesday. The car seems to be running a little smoother. Whoever changed the distributor cap last time didn't bother to put the 3rd screw on so water and moisture managed to get inside and rust the contacts andt he rotor. Now keep in...

Thanks for the suggestions on the wipers. I will have to get underneat that cowl at some point. Over the weekend I did loosen the bolt and adjust the wipers a little bit so taht they will cover more surface on the windshield. It has not rained here for a few days and probably won't for a couple more...

It has some slack in it. Sometimes the wipers hit the seal at the bottom of the windshield and other times they do not. Also, if you turn the wipers on high, the momentum from the movement actually causes the driver side wiper to slap too far and actually hit the seal on the Left side of the windshi...

I have a repair question. ON my 85 2wd wagon the wipers work but they don't move as fasr as they should when they are running. In fact, when I use them I have to peek to the right a little to see out because the driver side wiper doesn't go all the way across the windshield as far as it should. I ha...

Well, I must say that particularly when I first start my car in the morning the trans is hard to shift at first. In fact, today I almost didn't get it into reverse and its hard to get into 1st and will grind upshifting to 2nd. :) After I drive a few miles it generally does fine. As some of you may o...

OH geez, thats a scary story. The 85 White 4WD automatic wagon thats been on loan to me (and soon to be returned) has been making pretty bad rumbling/bearing noise in the rear of it. Well, that will have to be fixed. It has been making noise for a long time. I suppose I am lucky that I didn't have a...

Hello there, while we are on the subject of mileage I'll chime in. Well, lets see. On the last trip I took from Asheville, NC to Anderson, SC I got about 32Mpg with the 85 2wd 5 speed Wagon. I was pretty impressed with this accomplishment. Aroudn town I usually get about 27MPG. The carburetor in thi...

On mine onething that was a source of irritation is that when the guy who sold me the car had the left front axle replaced the idiot mechanics who did the work were in a hurry and forgot to the put the seal on where the axle connects to the transmission. Well, I came out of dinner with a friend one ...

I had the AC recharged in mine right before I bought. Unfortunately, the guy who sold it to me obviously had a moron charge it because they overcharged it and one of the seals in the compressor blew out. Fortunately, the guy that sold the car to me a few weeks ago stood behind the sale and fixed the...

I dont' know about the clunking sound but my fwd wagon makes a little noise when I engage the clutch in neutral with the engine running. As soon as i push in the clutch it is gone. Worn Release bearing maybe? Just one guess.
