i'm not certain that the motor is from an 86, but twice, on 2 different cars I have had the rocker arm shaft break. i have fsm and followed the torque sequence and half turn at a time instructions. is this bad luck or bad installation. The donor motors have 150-200,000 miles.

are you saying to plastigage the existing bearings? While i have this apart i just want to replace them all.

update. the dealer was unable to help at all. part renumbered twice and discontinued. the manual lists 3 bearings. my bearing caps indicate that all 3 should have been used. dealer could not give specs on the 3 part numbers, but both napa and oreilly also list 3; one is .25mm undersize, the second ....
