Re: Engine Swap options

well 40 mpg and EFI would be a winner for me. As far as cost and being able to pull off the swap the 4afe or 7afe is most likely my best bet.Well thanks I will start looking more in that direction.

Re: Engine Swap options

yea the 2L sounds good
Did Toyota ever produce factory diesel trucks for North America?
Yes. Toyota introduced diesel trucks for North America in 1981. The 1981-1983 models were available with the 2.2L "L" (or "1L") normally aspirated engine. In 1984, this was replaced by the 2.4L "2L" engine. For ...

Re: Engine Swap options

yea the 2.2 L would work, I think that is just too much torque. Do you have any idea what this series on engine is from:
1984 - C Third gen. - SOHC
1984-1992 - 1.8 L (1839 cc) 1C
1984-2000 - 2.0 L (1974 cc) 2C
1994-2002 - 2.2 L (2184 cc) 3C

If they are out of a truck then yea the 1.8l 1c might ...

Re: Engine Swap options

well so I guess my dreams of putting a 2AD-FHV in a 94 corolla wagon is doomed. Oh well Yea I was looking at on of the little 1.4L 1N something would be great for the tercel. However at some point mounting is just too rough, not to mention trying to find one.

Re: Engine Swap options

hey what about one of these:
http://www.fnfmotors.ca/JDM-Engine-4E-F ... oyota8.htm
It is a out of a JDM tercel dont really know to much about the 4E-FTE other that it is turboed. But it is small 1.3L so it may work.
Any ways just a thought.

Re: yaris motor swap

hey thanks for the reply that was very informative, the main reason I am interested in the tdi is mpg, but the large torque gain may be an issue. So yea Ithink adapting the motor to trans would be a trick trying to fab some adaptor or something. well thanks again for the awsome info.

Re: yaris motor swap

yea thanks for the info, I was also looking at the 1.9 liter VW TDI motor, I have seen pics of people putting these in toyota trucks, rangers all sorts of good stuff. So It would be able to at least mount it that way, so custom mounts and wiring. However I have no idea which way it spins so that may ...
