Re: 1985 Toyota van

That forum is set up different from most, having one thread that everyone participates in does make organization easier and also helps with finding actual solutions too. Sorry for chastising, as I was quite possibly, one of the scolders. It gets old fast when every single poster asks why their van w...

Re: 1985 Toyota van

Mark - awesome ride, congrats Have you been over to ToyotaVanTech.com, they have all the answers to everything TV I have also learned that all the people that have something negative to say about them have never actually been inside one. They are not small on the inside, they actually handle quite w...

Re: Replacing airbags

Theres no direct link between the bags and the belt. The seat belt pretensioners are triggered by acceleration of the belt. Must have been good hits in both cases. Most cars that blow the bags get written off, so I would want to make absolutely sure the titles are clean. I would also price the bags ...

Re: Need help from Carb gurus with 22r

Sounds like an issue in the high speed circuit. How many solenoids are on that carb? If it has 3, one of them may affect the HS circuit. The only thing I can think of, would be to make it sneeze a few times: - Cross #2 & #3 wires, fire it up, blip the throttle a couple of times and it will back fire...

Re: this might get me booted but...(subaru alert)

We had a customer that drove one back in the day. He loved the car. IIRC, only the 4WD's had the turbo option available. The only complaint I remember him having was the wheels were very flexible and always going out of balance. Early Subbies can be a lot of fun, if I found one that wasn't swiss che...

Re: Situation... flooded float bowl & rough unsustainable idle after new pump/dizzy/starter

I had one Terk with recurrent fuel starvation issues, it ended being the expansion line (traverses the rear frame member, on the vent line) its full width of the underside of the car, does a U-turn and goes back over to the tank. My symptom was just like running out of gas after awhile, drove me nut...

Re: help, please! issues with my new (to me) FWD ‘88 EZ

A long time ago, in a galaxy far away, my first Tercel experience was a transverse mount fwd. 3 doors, 4 gears, 4 cyl's and a 45L gas tank and on the highway you could count on at least 650Km. It was nearly bullet proof. The salt monster took it from me at 500K I would start with a new mechanic/shop...

Re: Fresh Weber and head replacement - oil weaping from exhaust?

When I first started pulling wrenches, the only rule was you had to be able to determine why something failed before you were allowed to do the job. At first I didn't understand, I was more of a "fix the obvious" kinda a guy., Looking beyond the obvious can be rewarding in itself. I also learned tha...

that is indeed an incredible example.
Winnipeg is only a $300 plane ride and a 23hr return drive.
Not unreasonable for such a cherry, still waiting to hear pricing though.

Splat - I am so jealous, I haven't made it out yet this year and its been a banner year. Cold and tons of ice. Petros - general rule of thumb (min's) is 4in for walking, 5in for sled/atv and 8in for small cars/trucks And if you're going with minimum numbers, you'll want to spud your way out. It is n...

Re: Catalytic converter

If the square holes all appear good, then shine a strong flashlight/trouble light in from one end, the other end should show diffused light, like you can see it but it isn't clear, then you should be good to go. OEM cat's are better built, have more precious metals and will last longer than any A/M ...

Re: I Smell Burning: Short circuit overnight

Hopefully you got sorted out but in case you didn't, there is supposed to be a fusible link box on the positive post of the battery, they are known for causing grief similar to what you stated. Not enough to take the top off and look, many have had fried innards and only visible from the underside.
