Trip Notes and Photos
Well, all those recommendations for what sorts of tools and things to bring on a road trip were great, but... I didn't need a thing. My recent drive from Salt Spring Island, BC, to Dawson City in the Yukon was smooth sailing the whole way--in so far as the car is concerned, that is. The weather was ...

Re: "I'm ready for my close up..."
Thanks guys. The Inconvenience is in good shape. My mechanic claims to have found a leak in my power steering rack, but I don't think I've lost a drop of fluid in two months. I just need to sort out a new carb. I'm on Salt Spring Island, possibly home to the world's highest per-capita rate of Tercel...

Re: What do you recommend...?
I'm glad that you enjoyed my photos. I will definitely take lots over the coming months (I even took a couple of my Terc today, and put them up in the Gallery). Your mother sounds amazing; I think in this day and age it's still a rare thing for a woman to really be that adventurous. I find that as I...

"I'm ready for my close up..."
I parked the Inconvenience on a flat bit of road on our property so that I can check a few fluid levels tomorrow morning once it's cold and was amused that it looked rather rugged, even though I'm about 100m from the house--it seemed like a good chance to show off a bit. inconvenience_glamourshot.jp...

Re: What do you recommend...?
Thanks for the suggestions; it's good to have input from so many brains when you're travelling alone. The bar of soap is actually one that I definitely wouldn't have thought of--I tend to use liquid camping soap. As Tercel-ownership is a relatively new thing in my life, my Gibb River Road experience...

Re: Touching Tercel Tribute
I think the music was the best part (after the Terc, of course).

What do you recommend...?
I'll be setting off in a month on my 3000km trek up to the Yukon (and hopefully doing lots of crazy middle-of-no-where driving once I'm there) and am wondering about putting together a bit of an emergency tool kit to have in the car just in case. I have a tire pressure gauge, and will definitely get...

Re: Need feed back on 32/36 weber!
I've been wondering about this, too. My carb is dying--sticking choke, often a fast idle, have to pump the gas a lot to start it--and I would like to fix it before I go up north. But I don't want to do anything that would be less fuel efficient (I'm not concerned about power). Is a Weber or stock ca...

By the time I was at that school, there weren't any more nuns--it was one of Ontario's 'separate' schools. A pretty ordinary drag-you-to-mass-in-the-gym and force-you-to-attend-utterly-meaningless-religion-classes type of thing (and no I didn't keep my kilt). ;) ps. Was quoted CDN$500 for a refurbed...

This car is definitely turning out to be a learning experience. The problem is that I really prefer to drive a stick in Australia, with the driver's seat on the right, rather than here in Canada with the it on the left. I'm just more comfortable; I think it must have something to do with the whole l...

If you're getting 20mpg in highway driving, you're at least 5mpg shy of what you should be getting. If that's city driving, it's fairly close to right. Hmm... I have to admit I had higher expectations than that. My car--I call it the Inconvenience, which is actually supposed to be a literary refere...

20 MPG is too low (unless it is an automatic trans). It *is* an automatic--but to me 20 MPG is too low nonetheless. Do I have unrealistic expectations for my beloved little car? My mechanic discovered that the choke was sticking open, and charged me CDN$70 to clean and lubricate the carburetor. The...

Specifically, for all Cali and Canada w/AT : _____NGK BPR5EY11 _____Denso W16EXR-U11 And for USA/non-Cali and Canada w/MT : _____NGK BPR5EY11 or BPR4EY _____Denso W16EXR-U11 or W14EXR-U11 Just to be really, really sure: AT is automatic transmission and MT is manual?
