Ya it's getting to the point where it almost has to be the head gasket
I guess in the long run it will be a good thing because I wanted to do a rebuild on the whole thing anyways.
I will keep you guys updated.

Re: Air in coolant?
To me it doesn't sound like your coolant overflow caused the overheating, it may be the other way around. You probably don't have too much air in the system - your car is overheating for another reason and thus boiling its fluid. If your t-stat and water pump are OK, then I would do a compression t...

Air in coolant?
So for weeks I have been battling what I think was air stuck in the coolant. I have been letting the engine get up to normal temp while running the heater then adding more coolant once I can safely get the radiator cap off. I do this until it won't take anymore. Now here is the problem. This morning...

Car is stalling at low RPM's
Basically my car will not idle. It takes awhile to start up, then I have to manually keep it running with the gas pedal or else if just dies. I have searched around the site and have come to the conclusion that it is probably a fuel problem. First thing I did was replace the fuel filter just because...

Re: Tercel is DEAD
Sorry about your car man... You will get it fixed. 8) Isn't it weird how easy it is to love these cars lol. I bought mine because I didn't want to drive my 94 325is in the snow. It was $350 and knocked louder than hell. When I bought it I thought it was the worst looking car ever. I drove it about 3...

Re: Noob.
I love this little car so far. Once I get my pulley problem fixed, I'm planning to baby it with some of the basic welcoming stuff that I had to put off for a while (oil change, tune up, filter change, transmission flush, etc). Being a grad student means no money to pay someone else to fix it, no ti...

Re: Just swapped my 3a-c for a 3a, won't start.
Are you losing any coolant? Are there any clouds of white smoke out the exhaust? This could be steam if the head gasket is leaking water. It might still run fine as long as there is water in it, but if you are losing water fast enough to cause overheating in only 15 min, you will see a lot of steam...

Re: Just swapped my 3a-c for a 3a, won't start.
Got the thermostat to work and determined that I for sure need a new fan switch.
I am going to need to drain the coolant to install the new switch? I'm guessing that I am.

Re: Just swapped my 3a-c for a 3a, won't start.
So the fan switch needs to be replaced. I will do that asap. I replaced the thermostat, filled it up with coolant, let it idle for about 15 minutes and it started to over heat while it was idling. I let it cool down for about 30 minutes then decided to start it up again to see if it would sta...
