The 84 won't do anyone much good. lol.
Did you make any decisions on that 84? I shouldn't kid about a wreck, but maybe enough time has passed... was your cat wearing that helmet when it wrecked? :-)

Well, if you decide to shoot the 84 into space, let me know. I'm not needing a cat though :)

'84. Did you ever go look at it? He said that somebody bought some parts that he had.

I'll pull the cover one of these days. I'm up to my nuts in snow and mud, so the car is still sitting on the trailer. I haven't found the spot where the tercel can sit undisturbed for a while if necessary.

Thats not good. Both sides do the same? Would you shoot the same scene with the camera pointed at the outer CV joint? I don't really think its the outer CV joint, bit it would be nice to eliminated it first. I do think the damage is limited to the differential and it really sounds like a bearing in ...

I would go for cheap and easy. I did a slightly different experiment this morning (because I didn't have a second set of hands). I just jacked up one side at a time and spun the free tire. I was able to duplicate the same results on each side. I think it was much clunkier than yesterday when we spun ...

Thanks. I'll look at it a little closer tomorrow. It seems like when we got both of the tires spinning forward, we didn't have the clunks any more, but it was a bit of a trick getting them both to spin forward.

With the front end jacked up. if you get one, two or three distinct clunks per tire ...

My "new" tercel from Boulder

I had posted a reply to Typrus's note in the for sale section about the Tercel I picked up. I had some troubles rolling it onto the trailer (it would catch every two feet or so). I just jacked up the front end and did a redneck driving test to see what it was doing. It makes a steady chunk-chunk ...

Maybe I will get lucky on the tranny. I don't think it was the motor turning over but it could have been. I didn't hear a clunk when I was cranking it on. When it gets a little warmer, I'll jack the thing up and see what spins.

No, it was in FWD. I haven't moved it other than to roll it up on the trailer. As I cranked on the come-along to load it, the vehicle would resist rolling every little bit. I could come-along through it, or stop and stand on the cable temporarily to make it roll past its sticking point. The PO said ...

Hey neonsport,

For some reason, I'm unable to send PM's. I always get this message:

Thanks for the heads up. I haven't unloaded it from the trailer yet because we have a bunch of snow, so it might be easier to check it out on the trailer. I wish it wasn't so damn cold.

I picked up this tercel. It's going to a good home. Now I need to find a tranny for it or have it rebuilt. Something was catching (probably tranny) every foot or two as I rolled it onto the trailer :-(

Re: Just got my first 4x4 Tercel!

Well so I just picked up my first ever 1988 Toyota Tercel. It has 170k on her and I picked it up for $350. I got the good price because of a loud knocking/tapping noise. It taps at idle and they get louder the higher the rpm. I have attached a short video clip of the engine idling and this is with ...
