Amer'ka
I hate working on it, I hate having to buy parts for it, and I hate having to put gas in it- about $90 to fill it! (12 mpg typical, 8 mpg with the travel trailer in tow). We spent $1300 in gas on a two week vaction pulling the trailer (though half of that was in Canada where the gas is over $4/gal)...

I thought that noise was my dist.rotor! It sounds like ruffly 80% of the old 3AC's out there make this noise, I've heard everything from fuel pump to engine side exhaust leak to broken rocker arm. I even did my heads and missed it. I got the valves to seat good, and new stem seals, assumed the push ...

Re: 1983 Federal Emission Control Diagram and Question
2. What is the "jet" that the emissions diagram sticker on the underside of my hood refers to? What does the "jet" do? Apparently it goes on the line that feeds the choke breaker. 3. How does the choke breaker/pulloff work on these cars? 4. Why do some vehicles show a check valv...

Yes, we removed the exhaust just before the cat, so that the pipe exits out just under the cat heat shield. Though for our new Mad Max theme, we're thinking about routing it up the passenger side A pillar like a Kenworth. We did remove just about everything from the car, including the inside sheetm...

did you say you took off the exhaust? your probably losing some horses right there. I took the exhaust off several GM trailertown drag cars, but I would think it's a terrible idea on a 3a-3ac, you can get a little clearance just by cinching the exhaust pipes up against the floor, for racing, the cat...

oil filter, stereo, carb linkage, close up or replace the holy parts of your exhaust pipes. if your missing some of those donuts that hold your manifold, that's bad, your exhaust system will swing around until every bit of it is broken. smart people get more donuts, I used bailing wire. put 98% of a...

perferated parts
It's surprising how affordable some of these performance mods and high end parts are- http://www.sfxperformance.com/parts/SPT2517.htm We have several large junkyards here in SpooktownWA, and they are a blast, even if you can't find what you came for. They are usually the best price going for anythin...

PAINT JOB IDEA
So I had this great idea on how to paint my pimpskate. I'm better at painting than mechanicing- but, as with most of my awesome ideas, somebody else has already done it. Here's the link to a paint job on a mitsu like I wanna put on my Tercel: <a href="http://jalopnik.com/cars/retro/the-mitsubis...

Archinstl, I stand corrected
A genius by any name... Since I straightened out the vac stuff, and lubed up the outside linkage on the carb, all the intake probs that made me want to rebuild my carb are majically going away. When I bought it it was a 3-cyl heavy smoker, now after minimum $$ and effort, the intake and ignition is ...

gas to vac lines
That was very helpful, also, the 'much better than chilton's' vac diograms posted by some tercelerated genius called anarchisto or something (http://tercel4wd.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=2810) was also very helpful. I have one of those abused tercs where the vac lines where hooked up at arbitrary poi...
