Re: Cause of overheating exhaust?

Thanks Petros! Checked the AAP and it was OK (no fuel in line). Did a minor carb rebuild (had a kit) and found the carb to manifold bolts were not tight (not loose, but nearly), passage for the powervalve piston was blocked by gasket material, the fast idle speed setting and throttle positioner sett...

Cause of overheating exhaust?

The exhaust system is running hot (roasting smells and touching tail pipe outlet burns the fingers). I suspect it is the catalytic converter overheating. Normally a cat overheats due to too much fuel, but car is running well (not misfiring), timing recently set to 10*, air filter is recent, float le...

Re: Tercel Wagon parts cheap Northwest WA

yes, I have an extra rear glass. I bought it as a spare so I do not know the condition of the defroster, but it was supposed to be good. Usually a careful inspection of the heating element will tell you it is good. those supposedly can be repaired, typically a scratch across the element causes a br...

Re: Tercel Wagon parts cheap Northwest WA

Hey Petros, The dent is repairable with bondo and paint. If you have a slide-hammer spotwelder (spitznagle?) you could do a great job. I bought the car with the dent - looks like maybe a tree branch, but apparently didn't break the rear window. I can take some better photos if you want. If you're up...

Tercel Wagon parts cheap Northwest WA

Sold my other Tercel so these are extra to me now. Aisin carb and manifold with lots of ancillary parts: DSCN2605.JPG Light blue hood with a few minor dents. DSCN2609.JPG Rear hatch with repairable dent. It never leaked so I never fixed it better, but the UV light did damage the paint so some surfac...

Nope, I'll still have the sunroof car. I bought a pickup and don't need a second Tercel now that my wife has bought her own car.

Re: 1984 SR5 166,000 miles - Nice car!

I should point out that it now has a 3AC engine (not the 4AC from my signature). Valve job around 125,000 miles. Clutch about 120,000 and lots of good work since then.

1984 SR5 166,000 miles - Nice car!

This is the one in my avatar, but with 14" aluminum wheels and very good Michelin tires. Good solid car that's been well cared for. Straight, no rust, but weathered paint. Complete SR5 interior with tilt-o-meter. Send private message or use contact info in the Craigslist ad. Thanks, Shawn http:...

Re: Need weird steering parts

The power rack is about 1" wider than the manual rack. (I've got them both and measured them on the bench) The power steering tie rod ends are each correspondingly about 1/2" shorter. As a result the manual steering tie rod ends would NOT work (too long) on the power rack (no adjustment le...

Re: Need weird steering parts

Found the manual steering parts I needed on Tuesday and was able to grab them today. Can recommend 360 Auto Wrecking in Lake Stevens - nice people. If anyone wants to convert a power steering Terc to manual you need several things: The steering shaft (with u-joint) is longer and the spline diameter ...
