ARCHINSTL is prob gonna be all over this one, unless too many projects of course. Great price for everything that you have done to the car.

Does it have any major issues? Why do you have to part with your Terc? A shame to have to leet it go.

Peace

Yeah - I'm gonna call him today and will report back.
Ran into a 30-year old guy at the gas station last night who was all over Goldie - even gave him a brief ride. He just could not get enough info. Asked if I would be interested in selling her, and I said "No" of course. He asked what one as clean as her would go for and I said "At least $3K" - he offered $3500. I still declined.
I'm gonna pass on the info on this one to him. Sure wish my gson was interested in cars for this one - but none of his friends are, even though they are all driving - so typical of 99% of teens nowadays.

As a teen I couldn't break 100mph enough. One of these could have brought my public safety risk level way down, except I would be getting twice as stuck.

I talked to the seller a while ago; he's done a lot more stuff to the car than listed above. He had been a member some time ago, albeit when he had a 3-door hatch. I told him to come back here and add what he's done to the listing. It's not on Craigslist for now.
I'll post more stuff later tonight, if he has not - gotta leave for a few hours.
I can't get out there to check it out myself until next weekend, but I intend to.

Naw - while they DO speed nowadays, they are just not interested in cars per se, whether oldies or newies. His group is not a bunch of nerds, but is just more fascinated with the electronic toys rather than the mechanical toys - or tools either, for that matter...:(
An example is one boy who inherited his Gpaw's project and love: A '70's Chevelle coupe (or Buick-they all look alike to me). Anyway, Gopaw painted it lime green, raised the back end with big tires, put in some kind of much hotter V8 with a lot of chrome goodies - typical '70s hot rod stuff. The car is really in an immaculate state.
When I first saw it, I thought "Wow - a fellow motorhead, even though not my bag." Wrong - he had no clue as to ANY part of the car; it was just "wheels" to him...

yes, hence the popularity of little box type cars with little to no other styling features. they have "anti-styling". They just do not care, it likely reminds them of their anti-style i-pad or something.

Sorry for the late reply...
I called the seller yesterday. In addition to the motor rebuild, he said he also installed a new clutch, shocks in front and back, and I think he said bushings in the front.
He said the only rust was in the top of both front wheel arches and the usual spot at the bottom of the tool cubby in front of the DS wheel.
I forgot to ask about the mileage and whether he did CV axles.
The "big ass bumper" mentioned in his information block is that he subbed the OE bumper (included in the sale) for something made from a 4x4 (or was it 6x6?) piece of timber so he could attach a small trailer hitch.
He said he did all of the work himself.
I told him I'd call him next weekend when I'm out thataway to look at the car if still unsold; it's not listed on Craigslist, at least of this writing.
I also told him to add to the listing here with more info and pix.

He actually belonged to the Club some time ago, then owning a Gen II sedan; he needed info we could supply. He's forgotten that T4WD handle.

I had good intentions, but haven't been out that way since.
Give him a call - seemed like a nice fellow.
I know it hasn't been listed on craigslist, so perhaps it's still available.

good for you! looks like a good buy. I keep wondering what a "breaking system" is however, perhaps you can let us know.

I hope I don't find out. Maybe it's planned obsolescence?

James/stumpy4x4 is a good guy to deal with BTW. And the bumper is not wood, it's square metal. A nice job. I'll post pics if Imageshack is working.

Probably not gonna lift it. Thinking a clean DD. KYBs, MR2 front brakes, nice alum. wheels, Barto-ish paint job. Oh and a Weber. Hoping the A/C just needs a recharge.

So I got it home today with the help of a friend who drove us out to James' place, with a small trailer. Put most of the parts into the two cars and on the trailer (left a tranny and motor there for later), stopped for gas & road-trip food (80 miles round trip), got home uneventfully. It's sitting in the garage now. Tmw I'm busy with friends, so Monday I will start into it. James has fixed all the major stuff; most of what's left is cosmetic, or minor repair such as a rear e-brake cable.

Interestingly, the area on the left rear below the tool cubby was in fine shape, just superficial rust; but on the right side, when I tried to jack it up using the seam jacking point, it would only go so far and then started to bend. So there may be hidden rust on the right side. But I thought the right side rusted out on the 2WD models, with left side rust on the 4WDs?

Your rust/bending situation seems to be an anomaly.
While you prob already looked, check out page IN-8 of the FSM for jack locations; the LR and RR spots are on the "X-members" holding the lower control arms, just in front of the wheel.
The method for jack stands is to raise using points on the rear axle and place the jack stands on the axle or on the "X-members."
Hopefully your bending prob was to the area behind the wheel and not to the X-member.

While OT, you might check all of the areas underneath to make sure the rubber sealing plugs are not missing; a number of Goldie's were, so I plugged with rubber "corks" from Home Depot, after spraying in R-O Rust Restorer.
