I knew it could be done. Now that proves I'll be able to do the same to my '83. Never heard of that clutch, but it looks like the Beck/Arnley unit is about $20 or so cheaper from Kragen or whatever it's called where you live. Ah, the lifetime warranty! Well, better pay off my loan and start working on my "2 yr project" asap! Congratulations!

Just remember to label all connections and vac hoses if you remove the engine. Remember to unbolt the starter, engine/bellhousing, exhaust manifold/tube mater, and stiffener plates.

Maintain proper torque on all connections. Nothing worse than putting your car on the school lift and seeing a tranny bolt backed out 1/4 inch.

The bucking and bad behavior indeed turned out to be fuel supply. My carb was somehow damaged in the collision or mean-time and was not running right. I had it rebuilt and it stopped vapor-locking and randomly quitting on me. For a while, I got exceptional fuel economy. I now have good performance, but sad fuel economy. Still don't know why. I'll try changing the oil soon.

Blue is still camping out next to my house, waiting for her day to come. My mom wants her gone, I told her if she gets rid of Blue I will take a 12lb sledge to her Passat and gut its engine out.
It will only cost $90 to throw her on a laser frame measurer, but I still have yet to do it. I may wait till after Christmas. If the total repair tally will total over $1000, I don't expect to see he repaired in a classic sense. I'd like to imagine modding in a truck solid front axle, but dunno how realistic that is.
If she is doomed to not live by my hands, I will try to sell her to hands willing to fix her. If none can be found, she will be stripped of her componants, rust-proofed, and put somewhere where hopefully she won't be harmed. We'll see.

I bought a Toyota clutch and pressure plate from the local Toyota stealership for about $400 when mine finally started slipping going up hills in 5th (sorry, Top) Gear.. We did it right and it's been great since the year and a bit since we've done it.

Dad put just the clutch, and aftermarket one, in a few years ago and it's already noticibly worn. He didn't do the pressure plate though so it was a bit of a rush job since he just wanted to get it back on the road or something..

In my experience the real deal has been better, but the after market one didn't really get a fair shot since it wasn't done %100.

Just my 2c.

Which blue? My car? I don't think you mean mine but I'm just as confused anyway. Your post probably has nothig to do with me Typrus so I'll move along..

On a Turtle related note, my gas gauge fixed itself. I think we may have loosened something putting the mattress in the back. I fiddled with the connection and the next day noticed the needle was of empty. Put 30 bucks in (got 20 litres  ) and it went up past half. Woooooot Tercs!
