1987 Tercel 4WD SR5 5 Speed NICE!

Post by Glenn »

The nicer of my two T4wds and it is an 87 SR5!

I may be able to help with delivery on the west coast as I have a truck and tow dolly, or help you arrange shipping if needed.

Thought I would keep this one so I threw LOTS of parts at it, but I really want a Honda Fit so selling both of my T4wds!

1987 Tercel SR5 5 speed 4wd about 157,xxx miles.

Drivetrain:
New rebuilt long block engine, assembled by a machine shop in Vegas, was told new clutch at same time…basically about 25 miles ago. (Bought the car this way)

Also looks like rebuilt starter and alternator.

All other stuff like timing belt, water pump, fuel pump/filter, belts etc are new or near new as expected with the engine rebuild.

I put on a newer/better shape carb from an 86 hatchback, along with newer throttle cable.

All new ignition parts, cap, rotor, plugs, wires etc. Good battery with new terminals.

A/C in place but not hooked up. Dealer installed cruise control in place but not plugged in (parts incl)

Trans shifts and drives fine, as does 4wd, has fresh Valvoline 80w-90 in front diff/trans and rear diff, all filler and drain plugs in good shape.

Has new cat back exhaust including muffler.

Most if not all vacuum lines are new.

Runs perfect...like new as would be expected with a NEW engine!

Chassis: (less than 20 miles on this stuff)

New KYB shocks in rear, struts in front.

New Struts Mounts

New Ball joints

New inner and outer tie rod ends

New sway bar bushings

New control arm bushings (not installed yet)

New rear sway bar rubbers (not installed yet)

New Power Steering arm boots.

New Driver side reman CV axle/shaft

Brakes:
New reman master cylinder

New reman front calipers with new pads

New front rotors

Nearly new rear shoes

Synthetic DOT3 fluid fresh throughout system.

Tires:
Nearly new all the way around, stock steel wheels, one mismatched.

Body:

I lubed every door, key cylinder, latch etc.
Fixed every burnt out bulb, has LED dome lighting and LED license plate lighting!
I unplugged the key buzzer!
Everything works, all dash lighting, gauges, rear defroster, windshield washer and wipers front/rear
Rear hatch hydraulic arms work…not 100% but quite good.
Left rear fenderwell has biggest flaw as seen in photos. Very light rust around rear window washer nozzle.
Some shallow dents on rear hatch.
Various other knicks and chips in paint.
Door molding getting droopy in a few spots.
Rock chips on front edge of hood.

Interior:
Very nice for the year and mileage.
New floor mats all around
Most wear is see on driver seat cushion, but still minor.
Small tear in headliner
Overall above average for age and year
Has original cargo cover in back.
New Clutch and Brake pedal bads.
All windows/locks work.

Extras:
Have the original owners manual and 1987 Toyotas owners guide with new purchase and VIN details written in back of booklet.
Original tool kit and jack best I can tell, has spare but tire is flat. Has aftermarket Alpine radio and corresponding manual, from the 80’s, radio works, but backlight for tuning is out.
Has clean NV title, no issues with the paperwork.

So there ya go, mechanically probably as nice as you will find, basically new engine, suspension, brakes etc etc…not even 50 miles on all this. Body is not perfect but also probably well above average for the age, miles on one of these cars!

looks like Ebay is where these cars get best prices. Nice looking t4wd. Are you located in Reno or nearby?
