I removed the auto tranny from my aunts car because the car would only move if it was in 4wd. I'm in the proceess of changing the car to manual tranny.
The Governer turned out to be the problem. The Governer fits to the pinion shaft and the main shaft in the tranny, joining the two together. The splines on the pinion side of the Governer were stripped off. I'm pretty sure a replaced Governer would be all that is needed. It's a 1994 tranny with 3.7 to 1 differential. If any one wants it along with all the assoc. parts, it's free.

Love those Tercell 4x4 wagons but they sure suffer from road noise.
