Seeking 4.10 (85-up) Ring and Pinions! Trade/cash

Near Portland, Oregon and seeking to do the 4.10 swap, need the gears front and rear. Have lots of parts to trade from tercels, 4runners and Mitsu Eclipses... Maybe trade for seasoned firewood? Or I've got cash.

About 8 years ago I found the 4:10 rear pumpkin from a wrecking yard for about $75 and it is an easy swap - a you pull it yard would probably be cheaper. The front ring and pinion you might be able to get separately, or you might find someone's trashed trans with a usable front differential that you could get really cheap. Usually the trans is replaced complete with the front differential so they should come available when someone replaces the trans.

I do not know much about rings and pinions. The rings on all tercels i have checked out have 41 teeth. the pinions vary at 10, 11, 12 and 13. My question is, are the rings intercangable with the different pinions?

There should be more/less space between the teeth depending on the pinion gear count.

I havent torn into a tercel yet but that is how it works on all the otehr vehicles I have.

Ring/pinions are a matched set, 4.10 rings go with the 4.10 pinions, and dont interchange with the 3.83 stuff. The junkyards around here only have the pre '85 gear sets. (3.83's I believe) Dont need the whole transmission from an 85+, the internal gearing in those were higher to compensate for the lower diff gearing. Combine the pre 85 lower geared transmission with the post 85 final drive (differential) gears and you get the lowest possible combination of gears into your terc without having major fabrication in using a different transmission. Running a 26.5" tire right now and the gearing is pretty crummy, wanting to go up to the 29" swamper but need to address power before that.

So I ask again, anyone got some 4.10, 85-up tranny parts laying around?
