Awesome >.<

I'll probably end up doing my whole system at some point here. All new seals, new accumulator, condensor, evaporator, valving.... I just hope that of my whole system the compressor is ok. Its rather an expensive chunk >.<

how would the expansion valve effect pressure between the high and low side?
I'm asking because I don't know, not because I question your opinion.

I've got a new expansion valve in my box of things to replace in the a/c. Now all I'm missing is a new condenser, since PartsTrain canceled my order. Toyota doubled the price on the expansion valve in the last year. OEM Denso valves were available on the internet for less than $30 a couple of weeks ago, but they've now gone up to almost $50.

I was wondering if anyone has ever replaced the expansion valve. Is it difficult or are there any tips anyone could give to make the job easier as under the dash jobs tend to be difficult or tricky.

I got the cooling unit out from under the dash. It actually wasn't too hard. The expansion valve looks realativly new. The cooling unit looks like it had been replaced with a junk yard part as it had numbers written on it in yellow grease pencil. The cooling unit looks old and corroded so I'm going to replace it, the pressure switch and the expansion valve. I don't want to have to pull this unit again. After that I will refill the system and post if that fixed the problem.

I'm having trouble determining what the switch is that is located by the evaporator core. I can't tell if it is a high pressure switch, a low pressure switch, a high/low switch, or a cycling switch. the numbers are not readable and the manual does not specify. Does anyone know?

so If I was going to switch my system from r12 to r134 all i have to do is release the old gas from the system and then put new fittings on and fill it up with r134? is that right? that seems pretty simple to me is there anything else that is absolutely necessary? Thanks!

Hey guys I'm sure one of you must know what that switch is down by the cooling unit. The manual just calls it a pressure switch but doesn't say what it does. I.m having trouble identifing it at auto stores, they have other names or the picture doesn't look right.
Anyone of you know a part number or link?

I replaced the cooling unit, the expansion valve, and the low pressure cutoff switch and I still have the same problem. I guess the reciever/dryer and the compressor are next. What else is left?

I'm thinking about trying to get these done-
Expansion valve
Whatever switch is next to the Ex. Valve
The evaporator core
The condensor core
The accumulator

A thorough purge on the system and a check on the compressor.

Expensive, but I'm tired of things going wrong.
