Post by dcn »

Was at the parents today to wash the Tercel for the first time in a month at least, heck I don't even remember the last time I had washed it.

Here's a look of it, clean once again! I hate Canadian winters!

Image

I also went into my Dad's garage and snapped a few shots today as well, since I said I'd do that a little while ago.

The Corolla pics didn't turn out very well, but trust me, it's mint.

My bro bought another Sentra the other day for parts for his, and for some reason there was a Toyota sign in the glove box. I guess Dad couldn't resist doing this:

Finally, a few shots of the '76 Celica:

Remember when I said it was clean underneath?

Check out the 4WD sign from a spare grill in the reflection!

And finally a few pics under the hood:

Good Lord - what a time capsule ! ! !
Even the various fluid containers are unstained!
This could be entered in a concours and win , as is - after all, what could be more " OE ? " Send some photos to the Mothership.
When you mentioned that your Dad's cars were clean, I doubt anyone figured they were that clean - even for your Dad! The apple sure did not fall far from the tree!
Once again, you've given a new meaning to the word "clean," darn you...

Just curious, what year Celica and does the steering wheel interchange with the Tercel. I see some nice steering wheels on ebay, but apparently there are three different size shafts used by Toyota. It looks like a steering wheel from an 82-85 Celica or from an AE86 Corolla will work, but I'm not sure.

That Celica is awesome, how about backing out of the garage next time and giving us a real look? I've always liked those early model Celicas...

Ill try and get some photos when the spring gets here. As you can tell it (and for that matter the Corolla too) don't leave the garage if there's a chance of clouds.

And in fact the reason the Corolla's sooo clean is because of just how good Tercels are. My Dad bought his '84 4WD back around 1990 so he wouldn't have to drive the Corolla, which he bought new, in the winter. He didn't know anything about Tercs then and was worried it would last a couple years before he'd need to buy a new winter beater car. He's still driving it today.

I am starting to like the painted headlight trim dsn has more and more. I ties the whole front end together. Good on ya ! I think that after i paint the terc I might paint up that trim too, depends on the tremclad colours availible. Oh and I can't forget to add the lambo gull wing doors while I am at it! That would be the day... Allthought I really like the full clear corners on the euro/auzzie tercels (I have the fully amber ones, not the halfies like dcn's).

You don't want those wheels Iain, they say 'Nissan' on 'em! Ugh!

They're my brother's summer wheels for his 90 Sentra. He got them last year, some guy was having trouble selling them cause they're only 13" wheels. They're very nice and were never used, they really look great on his car.

I didn't know ther was a ite called classic-celica.com, I'll have to check that out.

My dad thinks you're absolutely out of control. Lol. Our 02 Excursions paint is in worse shape than that Celica's.... (grumbles)

Do you have a Hollywood agent for those cars? I know that movie producers are always in need of period cars that look new for their period and I think there are agents for that purpose. Your dad might make a buck or two for all his hard work by letting them be used in movies where they are not crashed.

They are nice.

Hmm, that's a good idea, I dont know how you'd go about setting that up though. There is a bit of a movie shooting boom going in in Nova Scotia, it'd be neat to see one on the big screen. My brother mentioned some Steven Seagal (sp?) movie on SpikeTV recently that had a same generation Celica as that.
