I read the 4a-ge stock pumps fail at 11,000RPM, still not bad considering its only designed to go to 7000rpm.

another thing to take into consideration, reading in an old road and track, one of the s2000 engineers said that the stress on and engine revving at 9000rpm is double that of the stress on an engine revving at 8000rpm.

I think the secret to the A-series engines bullet-proof-ness is largeley attributed to the oil pump.
