I owned a 61 Fiat Cabriolet (forerunner to the Spyder). Kick a$$ fun to drive, but seldom got to do that, mostly waiting for parts. I learned more about car repair with that thing than I could have ever learned by reading books or taking every course in auto repair the tech school offered.

Mine was like this except the motor was a 103G 1227 cc. Note the steering linkage on the firewall above the engine, the steering wheel can be switched from RHD to LHD. Oh and mine was white and only cost me $150 (1968 dollars). Everything in his description is true except reliability (though I was told the Alfa built motor was more reliable than the Ferrari built version or the Fiat built version (103H) or the OSCA 1400 twin cam. Its main problem was broken bolts. It had a 6000 rpm redline but easily went to 7500. Most of the power came between 6000 and 7500.

I could have the head off and the block on the ground within 90 minutes of opening the hood, without a cherry picker. Got a lot of practice. Once it sat on four concrete block with only the transmission and doors attached to its monoque body.

Here is a more representative picture
