My 1985 Corolla SR5 rescued from the junkyard

Post by jetswim »

Another Toyota I salvaged from the junkyard! One more week and it would have been crushed! It's got a 4-AC with 250,000kms and it's a RWD automatic. I originally thought I would just take the engine out and put it in my TERC but it's actually in pretty decent shape and passed a safety with some new brakes LOL!

Find a 5-Speed?
You should go check out club4ac.com now. I haven't been there in a while. Might not go back. Dunno. I'm stretching my forum-power thin these days.

2 questions:

Do you let your dog drive?

What's the curb weight/the HP for this car? Anywhere near 20?

Hard to believe they were going to crush that car....

I let her drive all the time but unfortunately she likes to run down small animals!

Its got a 4AC.

All it is is an AE86 SR5. Not an AE85, those were the Japan exclusive 3AC equipped RWD models.

That's an awesome find....congrats on the rescue !! What'd you have to pay for it ? I've tried to buy cars from the local yard here, but they will not sell the complete car...something about titling issues. I've seen some beautiful cars go to the crusher :x

The day I picked up my Holley 5200 I watched a nice old Caddie get squished. Had the big old fins and everything. That beast was a tank... You could hear the hydraulics in the press groaning, the diesel straining, and it just wouldn't cave in till the last second. The roof went first, then after maybe 15 seconds of whining hydraulics, the rest slowly collapsed. I then watched a mid-80's Civic get squished in a grand total of maybe 20 seconds. Testament to the older American iron beasts.

Unlike our cars, the AE86 Corolla SR5's were the base models in coupe and hatch form. They as you know, had the 4A-C

The GT-S is the one to get! It has the great 8000+ RPM 4A-GE !!

God, I miss mine!
