Replacing Transmission, Forgot something

Post by Rasmus »

What years are 3.73 and which are 4.10 ratios again? I searched and got conflicting data.

My car is a October 1984 Build.

Oh... my car makes a bit more than 60 hp now, which is why 2nd, 3rd and 4th gears now... don't exist very much.

Aaaanywho, I've got 4.10s - I think - What years again?

I am really dreading going to the bone yard and picking up a tranny, its negative 20-30 outside for the next while... (sighs)

So... any car newer than mine, has the 4.10 tranny. - Got it.

Thanks guys.

The tranny I broke I am going to take apart, have straight cut gears made with the same diameter and tooth count, and put back in :) I love modding this ugly old rusty car ;)

Double check on your door pillar sticker. Sometimes a car made as late in the year as October will be counted as the next year's model.

Sorry, I gave you some wrong info in my last post. It's not the door pillar sticker you want to go by. Mine says date of manufacture was Sept 1985, but mine is an '86.

You want to check this sticker under the hood. It will state close to the bottom what model year the vehicle is....

I think "C" means California Emissions qualified, FED means applicable everywhere? Mine is a CAL... 86 was a FED.. OR was it the other way around?
One or the other had a High Altitude Compensator and a Reed Valve cat, the other was a much more basic system.

Maybe C really means nothing...

Or maybe the "C" means there is a certain tweak in the carb or engine that made the engine capable of passing stringent CARB inspection, but CAL or FED meant it had the rest of the emissions package to back it up?

Where it says what years emissions standards it meets on that sticker is the model year.

MMMMM! cake!

C means Californa emission. but i think castration would better describe the "c" as all that emissions crap kills the power output.

C is for Canada.... :?

I think the Bentley manual says 3A-C is an engine designation.

C is for Conundrum... We can't figure it out!
I know! I know! Toyota said- "Lets tack a C on there and watch the people get confused several years down the road! It'll be fun!" Well you know what Toyota? C is everything and nothing at the same time! Haha!

Wow.

So its -40 where you are Ras? I assume C....

Lessee.... 40x1.8+32... No way.... Hahaha! -40C is -40F!
Damn thats cold....
And I thought -9F the other night was painful to breathe in... Thats -22.77777778C

So hows the project coming Ras?
