You have to investigate that to figure it out. Once the engine has warmed up, the choke should stay open in the vertical position. If it's stuck open all the time, you have some investigating to do. Sometimes the linkage that connects the choke valve to the throttle can get stuck. Remove the air filter housing so you can see it clearly and lube it with rust penetrant, use some needle nose pliers to move the linkage and make sure it isn't stuck. Sometimes it's easier to disconnect the linkage at one point so you can determine if the linkage is the problem or if the choke valve itself is just stuck.

To check the oil pressure, you need to get an oil pressure gauge and an adapter. Then you remove the oil pressure sender from the block (it's the big funny-looking nut by the oil filter), put the adapter in, then connect the oil pressure gauge fitting. Let the engine warm up to normal operating temp to get the oil pressure reading. Do a search on here for the specific adapter you need, it's an oddball one and I can't remember what it is.

Is your oil pressure light coming on sometimes?

That's normal. If it flickers or comes on at idle once the engine is warmed up, that indicates either low oil pressure or a faulty oil pressure sender, so it sounds like your oil pressure is likely fine.

Hi
Today I started it up and it was idling at 2000 rpm but then it went down to 1100 rpm which is still a little higher than normal and so I cut it off and back on then I took the air filter cover off while it was running to see what was wrong and I couldn't see anything wrong then I cut it off and smoke came out of the pipe from the valve cover to the air filter and so I took off the oil filler cap and smoke was coming out of there not very much but still if you know why it was smoking or why it was idling high please please let me know

Marvin,

That idle is higher than spec, BUT that’s about where I set mine. It bounces around some anyhow and 1,100 rpm idle keeps it from wanting to die at stop lights once in a while.

I agree with Chris, your idle doesn't sound too bad to me. And the light smoke you describe sounds like it might be normal engine vapors. Just to be sure though, I would do a compression test to see if your rings or valves might be worn.
