I've always just wire wheeled nuts and bolts when doing machinery restoration. Unless you can get OE replacements, new ones rarely match close enough and really stick out as different looking.

THE EAGLE HAS LANDED and looks as American as it can when it's short 4 cylinders and a V-shape.

That PCV filter idea, while clever, is also EXTREMELY messy, and I speak from experience.

That's the breather! I'll have to figure something out for it.

I finished plugging the ports on the exhaust manifold and painted it a flat black. I also replaced the heater core without even killing anyone when I realized that I would need to pull the steering wheel to cleanly pull the dash (I instead broke all the steering column support bolts and nuts loose and lowered it that way, then turned the steering wheel to push the caught part out...it was messy and unprofessional).

Also found out my replacement bolts for the manifolds are too long. Will have to drop by AIP tomorrow, I guess.

Oh, and I found that the aftermarket speaker wires were just taped. Also found a thickly insulated single-filament wire that had copper mesh shielding. Goes from the driver's side to the passenger's side and disappears between some HVAC enclosures. That was taped with painter's tape.

One of the heater core enclosure's doors has a broken control cable as well.

Made new battery cables and prepped a wiring harness. I also anointed it with blood because I am just so good at using knives.

Great line, and one to which we can all attest.
If you cannot attest - you are lying...

I think all of our cars have a little, and sometimes a lot, of blood, sweat and tears in them.

Heater hoses are on, battery cables are on, starter is on, most of the clamps are tightened.

Tomorrow, I will seat axle seals, install axles, fill the transmission, install the alternator, install a couple more horse clamps, install the fuel pump, paint and install the EGR plate, fill the cooling system, and start 'r up.

My typing is second to none, don't judge me! Bailey understand me, at least.

Got everything all hooked up. Identified the mystery dash wire as the antenna wire and ripped that out. Local radio stations are absolute trash nowadays.

Still need to fill the cooling system and transmission, but wanted to make sure the engine would crank. I need to take care of the wire from transmission to chassis near the starter.

Also need to know where the smaller wire that's on the starter-end of the battery cable is supposed to go, because I don't remember and it obviously is not a ground since it's part of the positive cable.

not judging, just wanted a clarification. Not many horses on a Tercel, lost of hoses however.

BTW, the "extra" wire on the starter bundle could be either the solonid wire (it would only be energized when the key is turned to the "start" position), or the heavy wire that goes to the fuse box to power the accessory panel.
