Blown power rack seals.

Post by BaileySims »

Is there a temp fix for this issue? Quite embarrassing leaving a ton of power steering fluid everywhere I drive. Stop leak was of no help. Thought of just removing the power steering pump belt thinking less fluid would leak out until I am able to buy a new rack. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.

Love those Tercell 4x4 wagons but they sure suffer from road noise.

pulling the belt and draining the system should be done ASAP. if you run the pump dry you will damage it.

you have to also drain the system or else every time you turn the steering wheel you will also leave a puddle of fluid, it pumps it out when you turn the steering wheel. Or if you do not care about that, just remove the belt off the pump, it will stop circulating the fluid, but it will drain back into the rack and leak out.
