I'm thinking of bidding on this weber:

<a href='http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/WEBER-CA ... enameZWDVW' target='_blank'>http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/WEBER-CA ... meZWDVW</a>

Anyone know it this would work fine on the tercel with the proper Weber adapter kit and air filter?

(I'm ignorant when it comes to carbs...sorry! - although I'm doing some more reading on this site and others).

That one looks like the one that was on ebay and ended yesterday, but it was a rebuilt one....had come off a Toyota truck.

OK, I just did a little more research on this site and have learned some more things about webers. Thanks especially to Lateer and DirtMagnet. This carb sounds like the exact one that DirtMagnet used, except this one uses a manual choke instead.

I guess this one is the DGV type? I've placed a bid on it. It looks like exactly what I want and appears to be brand new and un-used. I'll rejet it if necessary when/if I get it.

Bye bye to my POS stock carb that has no driveability issues, but gets 18mpg in town and 23 on the highway. ;)

Yup.
That's a 32/36 DGV carburetor.
Manual choke, which isn't too bad.
Mine's a DGAV without the automatic choke. I've had to build a manual choke adapter, which works o.k. No fast idle, which is a little bit of a pain in the arse.

The thing with all the automatic chokes is to give the accelerator pedal a push before you start the car. That engages all the choke mechanisms and closes the choke butterflies, activates the fast idle, etc.

And I'm glad you liked the writeup. It took me a while...

Uh, GTSSportCoupe did you read the part that says that the seller only ships to the United States or have you worked something out with the seller? Just want to make sure you know...

Doh!! Thanks! I'll have to work something out with him. I missed that. Worst case I could have it shipped to somebody in the USA, and then have them ship it to me.

Your welcome, I'm glad I can be good for something! :) That's what I was afraid of and I just didn't want you to get negative feedback in the event you hadn't seen that. That happened when my friend was bidding on an auction for me, and I missed the part where it said "Credit card payment only" but luckily he was outbid at the last few minutes to avoid negative feedback.

I hate those US only sellers. I usually pretend I didn't notice and act all innocent.
