I know it is popular with the ricer crowd to "show off" the timing belt, but pebbles, rocks and sand get thrown up into the engine compartment and will get between the belt and the cogs, cutting it up and damaging the sprockets. Especially if this car will be used on gravel roads or off road. Get a clear one if you want to show off the belt, but do not drive without it unless you intend it to be a "show queen" and not for daily driving.
i've often wondered about this. i assumed it was because, in addition to the popular look, performance guys used some kind of adjustable cam pulley and left the cover off for quick access. either way, i agree it's best to keep it covered.

Underestimated how much wrap would be needed. This is after 25' worth, thank goodness for overnight shipping. (wink) The rest will be here on Friday and will be patched up when I pick it up that evening.

Safe and sound at home, still needs a few things but it runs and drives.

what are the current issues? how do you like driving it so far, or do the issues preclude you from being able to really enjoy it right now?

Few issues:

1) Exhaust (open manifold, VERY loud)
2) Running slightly rough, we're thinking it's timing related
3) Also probably needs a new TPS sensor, which I'll be picking up tomorrow from Pick and Pull

I also found that the battery had a very low charge level so it's on the slow charger right now. I'm not surprised considering the car was almost sitting for 2 weeks. A positive note though is that there are no leaks coming from anywhere, very happy about that.

I apologize to everyone for not updating, I've been working on my last few weeks of school and was just admitted into an Urgent Care facility today after I had a health scare.

But to answer your question, yes it has mostly all been fixed. There are some gremlins here and there but exhaust is nearly done (still need a new muffler and resonator, thats on the list) and it runs and drives like a champ. Once it's all finished I'll get some better pictures.

Its alright. Health and school come first.

Do you have a video of it running? This is awesome. 4 mikuni carbs and velocity stacks would be awesome.
