Re: Rockin' Ron...all summer long
Seasons Greetings everyone! I wish all of you and your beloved Tercels a rust free Christmas and New Year. I have a couple of random questions I was hoping could be answered, or directed to threads that will answer them for me:
-Where do I find the serial number on my 4ac motor? In order to pick up the appropriate parts I need to find out specifically what my motor came out of.
-I have the stock roof rack on Ron, and am wondering whether it is strong enough to support a Thule ski box. Not much in terms of weight, but what about gusts from oncoming traffic?
-Any word on whether our forum will become mobile friendly? A big reason I'm not on with much frequency is due to the lack of a tablet friendly website. No criticism here, just looking to see if anything was in the works...
-Lastly, my boy Nico is ready to go forward facing in his car seat, but I have absolutely no idea where or how to make an anchor point. Any ideas?
Thanks folks, keep your dreams alive!

I take it you do not have an OM? The procedure for anchoring is contained therein.
The Toy OE part numbers are: Bolt - 91511-60830 and Locking clip 73119-22010.
The procedure is not covered in the FSM - let me know and I'll be happy to scan the pages of the OM for you.

I have not been able to find that anchor. Let me know if you find it!
As far as the engine serial, look for an 85ish corolla I think it was for parts?

Re: Rockin' Ron...all summer long
After studying the pictures it looks like the anchors are very close to the rear hatch seal along the floor. Probably along the plastic trim. That means the belt would stretch across the cargo area.

marlinh is correct - the OM even mentions trimming those pieces.

I mean the anchors themselves!
EDIT by ARCHINSTL - The Toy OE part numbers are: Bolt - 91511-60830 and Locking clip 73119-22010.

Aren't the anchors used rather universal? They should be available at any aftermarket parts place, or come with the seats.

Re: Rockin' Ron...all summer long
Anchor's in and now having to hide my potato chip addiction from my son; damn forward facing car seats! I'm still wondering if anyone can tell me where the block serial number for my 4ac motor would be. I want to determine specifically what car my engine was pulled out of so I can buy parts accordingly...anybody?

Re: Rockin' Ron...all summer long
dang, i had saved the block serial # on my old phone but got rid of it a while ago. sorry greg. i think it was near the starter but am not positive. it's stamped on a smooth part and easy to make out.
has ron been off the road over the winter? are you going to tear into it now that spring is looming?

Re: Rockin' Ron...all summer long
Ron has been rockin' all winter long, but once the remaining two feet of snow dissipates I am in need of getting a few things taken care of. I understand your ill contented feeling of the Weber carb and the maintenance required. I've been pretty unhappy with my fuel consumption, and may consider returning to a stock carb system. I still want to ditch the lift kit, as I'm more into cornering than climbing over rocks, and have some rust issues needing attention.

Re: Rockin' Ron...all summer long
I am resonably certain all of the 4ac use the same internal parts, there was some block variations for external mount details but that does not affect the internal parts. Also, if parts were switched over from the 3ac you need to be aware of that too for the external parts. likely you should be ordering parts for the carb on the 3ac engine, not whatever came on the 4ac (even though they are simlar carbs some of the extrernal parts are different for the transverse installed engine).
The block is stamped on a flat surface along the rear edge where it bolts to the bell housing, I think it is on the side where the starter is located on the Tercel, as I recall.

Re: Rockin' Ron...all summer long
My son Nico was given a big box of old 'Hot Wheels', and lo and behold, what did I find, but a rust free Tercel!~
If I want to get new springs (new old stock, whatever) for Ron, anyone have a lead I might follow up on? The snow has finally receded, and I am going to pull the Barto lift out to be replaced with a fully stock suspension. KYB shocks/struts, and man, wouldn't new springs be nice to throw in as well...
