Improvements, and the move!

Post by Neu »

Alright, so this is everything that's happened in the last 24 - 48 hours.

1) Moved from Hostgator to Nixihost(free and stable). This was somewhat difficult. I resynchronized the forums with a backup from yesterday of the database, hence why I'm making this thread, cuz the others are gone. Any posts made in the last day or two ARE GONE.

2) Chat was installed. This chat is pretty cool, it's made by handyman, his copyright and whatnot is on the bottom.

3) Photo Gallery! A new, cool one. This one is PART OF the forum. The links for those are up in the corner, by Members, and Faq, and Logout. They are Chat and Photo Gallery.

4) The forum is also the most up to date version available!

I'm glad it's all back as I almost bought a 1971 Citroen DS while the forum was away (perhaps the Terc is just to reliable). Well done on getting a free hosting server.

Chad -
Everything appears copacetic. Thanks.

Mattel - a 'Troon? Nooo ! ! !
If you think the Terc has plumbing probs - I cannot imagine trying to maintain one of these cars - especially after 37 (!) years... They were a bugaboo even when new - if you think BritMobiles had unique approaches to mechanics - you ain't never worked on a FrenchMobile (or bicycle, for that matter!). Not that I ever owned a GallicMobile - but a fellow in my subdivision owned the "less-complicated" ID version of this car - briefly...
Gotta admit, though - these swoopy cars could be tempting...

Hey Tom,
The DS... I wasn't going to maintain it.. I was just going to take my couch down to the garage, pour myself a glass of hydraulic suspension fluid and watch it rise up on it's suspension.. I mean just look at them. It's been 8 years since I got rid of my Mark 1 VW Golf GTI clone and and I have only just forgotten the rigmarole of prying parts away from surly dealers from around the country and South America.. and that was a VW.
Perhaps hard drugs or home ownership/mortgage would be the better option. I thank you for your sage advise against this french folly.

That was the car that had me so fascinated down at the Saab repair place...

Kind of strong. It's slowed quite a bit. I think a lot of the changes are scaring people off. Eh, it sucks. Only time will tell really.

Chad,

I think you're at least partly correct about the changes. I've not been on the Tercel forum much and some of it is the changes. (and part of it is the 25 year old Guzzi I just picked up) I was disappointed that we lost the the "Zen and the Toyota Tercel" with the first move. And with the most recent change disappointed that all my photos with captions disappeared from the gallery (with the processor speed and internet connection I have that represented quite a time commitment - a pity the photos could not be transfered to the new gallery.)

Realistically these changes were probably needed. And if they eventually result in more members more satisfied it is a benefit to all of us and a testament to your foresight. But please keep in mind that others want to see their contributions valued.

Thank you for allowing me to vent. And thank you for all your work keeping this forum going.

ps. Every time I see a Tercel Wagon I want to tell them about this site.

sdoan - I agree with you about this item. "Zen..." was cleverly written and expressed feelings about our little friends
.........quite well. I had inserted a link to the "Zen..." thread in several other Clubs, as it expressed the affection so well.
neonsport has not visited since the change, so apparently he did not see the notes about the missing paragraphs.

yeh I was upset when zen disappeared, I tried to find it somewhere. Using archive.org but it doesn't navigate forums well. Eh, and the gallery I tried, but I couldn't back stuff up very well. I still have your photos, but it'll take time to find out how to trick the forums into thinking you uploaded them
