Post by Mac »

I found a couple pics of a guy with a Koyo rad in his AE86, i noticed it looks very very similar to ours, anyone know if they are compatible?

i dont see why not... mounts look similar to our wagons.

go to a junkyard and measure the rad mounts, then compare them to the tercel.

they fit you just have to lower a bit the clamps because they are a bit shorter like half an inch
tercel 4wd custom suspension, under drive pulley, vented brakes, cold air intake, and plenty more to come

Notice the custom radiator and the altered strut tops to allow camber adjustment. This looks like someone's race car, not likely this was ever a production set up. It appears this engine came out of an injected corolla or something, and adopted to fit in this car. This is not a Tercel, notice the area in front of the windsheild where the wipers are, there is no grill.

Where is this pic from?

Looks like a pretty standard AE-86 to me... Just with camber-plates up top?

From pictures taken of Koyo radiators, the outlets are on the correct sides so besides mounting, should be fairly easy.

As for the ae86, it has a 4agze due to the sticker, cam covers that say SC, and the special intake manifold. It appears to be running a front mount intercooler which is the reason for the insulated charge pipe crossing over the cam covers.

The AE86 Radiator is no where close to a factory fit. It's taller and wider significantly.

I'm looking to see if I can drop the bottom mounts by an 1 1/8" and the drivers side over a few inches. The top EZ mounts are going to require a spacer and a nutsert a few inches closer to the drivers side. ( I know, I should of taken pics when I tried it)

Performance Radiator makes an upgrade 4 pass radiator for $165. It's twice as thick as the stock one and is all metal(no plastic caps). I think that's the easiest upgrade. The factory electric fan still fits too.

Here's a pic of what an OEM AE86 radiator looks like. You can see how much wider and taller it is. Also gives you an idea on EZ mount spacing.

I am pretty sure someone made one of those fit in the Tercel. They would have to move the air cond. condenser if it is so equipped.
