I found my people!!!

Post by golden_glory »

Whassup everyone! I've had my Tercel for about a year now and I had no idea that there was a site for them. This makes me happy. Thank god for bordem and youtube. So mine is an gold colored 86 (although parking enforcement calls it 'brown'...) with suprisingly little rust. Scince I'm going to school to be a Technician I plan to rebuild the engine some time next year. She needs rings, main seals and probably a metric ton of other stuff. Any way I am super geeked to find this site! You people rock! peace out.

Geeked - excited about something that makes other people look at you like you are nuts. I am going to Madison Area Tech. College right now. Auto technology program, when I'm done I'll have a associate degree. I also should be promoted to Lube Tech at the Toyota dealer where I work. Right now I'm just a porter (valet without the tipping). I pretty sure I know whats wrong with it, its 21 years old and was neglected in a maintence way before I owned it. I had to replace the gas tank because of a rust leak on the seam and I also replaced the front sway bar & bushings w/OE pieces but she still runs like a champ. I'll be in touch though. Later man.

Well, a lot of people look at you like you're nuts when you're driving one of these things. I remember laughing at a friend of mine who is an attorney here in the small town I am in when he was driving one back in the mid 90's. His had been beat all to hell and really looked rough.....boy, how things change !!

Welcome to the group !! I just keep hoping these cars don't get "discovered" as that would drive the price up too much. I"m up to 3 now, and wouldn't mind having a couple more.

Heh. I'd only need 2 more classes to get an associates degree after this years program. I might do that as well as get my BSME.

Well, then I guess I'm geeked 24-7! lol.

Sorry man I had to google Jim Rome to even find out who he is.... not much of a sports fan myself. I kinda read up on non-NASCAR motorsports news but don't really follow even that to closely. Whats up with the 'History' link on this site though? It would not work for me. I did find the gear ratios though and that was cool. Anyone know the front/rear split in 4x4 mode?

Front/rear split? As far as I know there isn't one if I have the terminology right.

The transfer case locks the front and rear driveshafts together. There's no differential in these. You either are locked into all four wheels (4WD) or you're driving the front and dragging the rears (FWD).

These have real 4wd. They are not a Subaru. No center differential. As with 4wd, power is basically 50/50 split. Not adaptive like in a Subie.
