I have seen forums like this, perhaps a public display of the worst of human ego. I think this is also perhaps a reflection of the moderator's attitudes. I like the Tercel4wd forum the best, great helpful people and not any rude posters (thanks to the moderators). I see no point in participating if half the members just want to throw insults. I am also a member of a Mazda MPV forum, which in not as active but also full of helpful people, and I have been on two Honda forums, the CRX forum is mostly immature gear heads that often do not know what they are talking about, (when I want to find a fix a problem with the mass of vacuum operated emssions system all I get is ignorant people telling me to just rip it all out). Nt so much for the CRV forum (a car type for more mature owners I suspect, same with the Mazda MPV forum).

I have spent some time on a few others, the 4age forum is filled with a lot of rude, know nothing teenage acting gear heads. One time when there was an unclear post by a barley literate self wrencher, I posted a question to get a clarification and all I got was a string of insults about my "obvious" level of intelligence rather than an answer. I do not know what possible motivation for him to waste time doing that rather than just clarifying what he was talking about. It took several polite but firmly worded exchanges get him to just clairfy his post. The guy was in full jerk mode.

I guess the type of cars attractant the the sort of people that still work on their own cars, for good or bad. Good moderators are a big help too. Stay away from forums who's moderators are teenage boys, they relate to each other by throwing insults.

i found the same thing on old civic forums. it was mostly rude kids who knew little but liked to act like they knew tons. not surprising since old civics are popular as cheap cars that can be built up for a high power-to-weight ratio. perfect for broke pizza delivery kids who want to speed really badly.

dlb, not talking smack about the Delica forum, it's been helpful. I know this forum better, it's got loads of great info and mostly I really enjoy the people on here. Interesting to hear the stories of crappy forums and it seems that there are some jerks out there that can ruin what would otherwise be a useful resource. So that's a tip of the hat to the Tercel nerds on this forum (and the moderators).

The Delica's a pretty cute car.

I enjoy this forum a lot. I'm a bit out of my element with the Tercel. I also post a ton on GenVibe and MatrixOwners and know the Vibe base pretty well. GV has a friendlier atmosphere than MO, although there is one single Debby-Downer on GV.
But...did you try hitting it with a hammer?

that is the good thing about the internet, you can act any age you feel like and no one will know the difference. From whipper snapper to crumuggin, we will never know.
