Around 2 months ago I spied a beige, boxy 80s wagon on the street I live on. I wouldn’t have given it a second glance if not for a large badge proclaiming “4WD” on the front grill. I had just crashed my beloved Subaru Outback and was on the hunt for a new car, so I ended up doing some research on the quirky car next door. Turns out it was for sale, I rapidly fell in love with it, and it was soon sitting in my driveway.
It is incredibly loud due to the absence of a muffler, it has no airbags, and a pretty severe vacuum leak makes the driving experience akin to riding in a small Cessna. I adore it.
Eventually I had the wild idea to move into it. Out went the rear seats, in went a platform, and down went my rent. We cruise around Alaskan backroads and camp in the trees, and it’s a pretty darn good time.

Re: Finnegan the Space Donkey
welcome to the forum!
that is hard core! Living out of tiny Tercel4wd in Alaska, better head back to town before the winter snows! I have been wanting to drive to AK in my Tercel4wd from Washington, but my wife will insist on taking the Lexus.
The vacuum leak should be an easy fix, you just need to track it down. If it is loud enough to hear, finding it should not be difficult.

When you really break it down, what more do you really need. Our ancestors for tens of thousands of years probably lived in less (their huts didn't move at highway speeds).

Oh Man , How cool is that !!! Your living the life. Take lots of pictures and please post. I'm so jealous. Working for the man has so much down side. I love taking my Tercel everywhere but just limited to local camping ( me , wife , 2 kids and two dogs ) in the Tercel with a camping box strapped to the roof.
Keep it up and be safe.

Those pics look like they should be from an 80's advertising brochure for the Tercel, especially the last two.
