Point well-taken.
When it warms up, I think I'll use some kind of lube on ALL of the joints; after all, they've been moving for 27 years now.

Hi Ace! Did this fix work for you, long term? I'm currently having the same issue with my 83 DLX. Thinking of giving this fix a shot because I don't know what to do. Thanks!

Yeah still working as of 1-30-2017. Apparently this is a not uncommon problem on various older cars. It would be nice if the ball joint bushing parts could be more standardized so new replacements that fit correctly aren't so difficult to find.
