Fuel in vacuum lines, Leaking AAP?

Post by sdoan »

Did a search on AAP and Axillary Accelerator Pump but found nothing.

Is the only way fuel gets in the vacuum lines is through a perforated AAP diaphragm? I have fuel in the lines but the AAP seems to hold vacuum.

Thanks.

yeah, for some reason this forum's "Search" doesn't work with acronyms such as AAP

but a couple entries came up using "auxiliary" -- you might have spelled it wrong

Is it possible that gasoline could be introduced into the vacuum system through the charcoal canister & associated tubing? I haven't looked at the vac diagram to see if it's physically possible.

Also, I suppose you could have one or more vac lines routed wrong, but that's just a wild-ass guess.

If the vac lines are installed improperly on the charcoal canister it will leak fuel like crazy. I mixed two up on a corolla once, (easy to do on the corolla), and guess how I learned they were in the wrong place? Big fuel puddle under the car.

It is possible any of the vac lines going to the carb could get fuel in them if the float and needle valve is allow the carb to flood (check the sight glass for proper bowl level), and any of the other devices run by vac that could have fuel in them as well.

Good luck.

That is certainly possible! Thanks for the links and thanks for the info on the charcoal canister - I will check the routing.
