Blower motor resistor question

Post by tercle »

I ordered a blower motor resistor on the Internet and it arrived smashed up.
There was nothing preventing the resistor assembly from rattling around in a 4x4x4 box.
Some of the ceramic/epoxy stuff had broken off and the coils were mashed.

Is this how old-style coiled resistor wire blower resistors are packaged industry-wide?
Or do some vendors secure the base to a piece of cardboard or use some other method to prevent the resistor from being damaged?

Replacement arrived last night.
Packaged the same way.
I have received two of these now, and both were shipped with the resistor module rattling around loose in a small box.
Four Seasons brand.

It just makes no sense to ship this part by throwing it loose in a box.

I am requesting one from a different manufacturer next time. and continue with this trial-and-error thing.

Where are you ordering from? I would want to assume it's rock auto? I ordered a radiator and thermostat from them once and they packaged both in the same box. During the shipping process, the thermostat came out of its box and put a giant hole in the radiator. Most of the time their packaging methods are on point and some times it's like they don't even think about what they are doing.
