HELP - I have 2 .jpg photos to post of the EGR valve, but am clueless as to how to proceed (go ahead, get your snickering out of the way now...). They are quite clear and saved on my desktop, but that's it. My photo posting has been limited to eBay for three years, having done over 2K auctions for bike stuff, but eBay's software (?) takes care of the details.
Will be starting my Great EGR Valve Cleaning Adventure tomorrow, but thought I'd send a few pix for comments. The engine has been hesitating dramatically between 1200 and 2000 rpm, despite new plugs, wires, O2 sensor, ALL new vac tubes and TVSV. I presume the condition of the valve has not helped. Cleaning it should make a lot of difference - right? It was totally clogged, and was never cleaned in 171K miles.
I am apprehensive about prising the cap from the (Federal) vacuum modulator to clean the filters, as mine is different from any in the FSM, whether Federal or the others- advice?
> > > Note that if you mangle the little screw holding the small plate and tube to the EGR valve, you can just visit your local bicycle shop. It is the same size as many derailleur adjusting bolts, albeit a bit longer. These are also slotted for straight as well as Phillips drivers.
> > > Actually, this source is good for many of the smaller fasteners. I know, as I operated a bicycle store in STL for 30 years, and NO one is more of a pack rat than a bicycle store operator, and there is always a junque box of various parts. This will also hold true for small plastic bits as well, which can be modified for various purposes, such as grommets, washers, spacers, ad infinitum.

To post pictures, start by uploading them somewhere. I like photobucket.com . Then copy and paste the img code Photobucket gives you. It should look something like this:

That will magically turn into a picture. :D

Well - I'm snickering myself now.........
What did I do wrong ?
There are two photos, each with 2 images. All I get on my monitor is two huge pix of 1/2 of my original photos.

Actually...if your EGR is plugged...then it isn't likely to be the reason you have hesitiation.

I'd leave it alone and look elsewhere for that problem...I cleaned mine and then had the car run a lot worse when done.

I'd tighten the manifold bolts (carefully)....look for vac leaks...and test some of the various diaphrams for leaks...espec those on the distributer....and make sure it is advancing the right amount.

You basically have to go thru all the tests for the various emissions components...I'd keep good records of your results.

As far as the cap on the vac mod...I'd just carefullly pry it off...probably just snaps on?

I have seen different types of vacuum modulators for this car. Different in the amount of vacuum lines, I think that was all.
