welcome to the forum,

what happened to your last trans? sometimes they can be repaired without too much trouble or cost.

Also, sometimes the clutch or throw-out bearing go bad and make a lot of bad noises, sounds like it is coming from the trans so people assume the trans is bad. have you pulled the trans to verify that indeed the trans is bad? Just looking for alternatives, transmissions are kind of rare for these cars since they have not been made since 1987. Though there are still a number of them kicking around in wrecking yards, garages, etc.

I bought the car from a user on here, and it was pulled when I bought it. He said it was stuck in neutral and metal chips found when drained.

He also mentioned your name that you are selling a newer trans and front diff set up that will work if I swap trans and the front diff?

I'm not new to old Toyotas, just new to Tercels specifically.

I have an extra '85-87 trans, which has the 4.1:1 front diff. So it can be made to work if your old front diff is good and you swap out the front diff/bell housing assembly, or you change your rear diff assembly to the 4.1:1 ratio. the '83-84 has 3.73:1 front and rear diff ratio, so you have to make it match. But it can be made to bolt up and work.

I do not know the history of the trans, it supposedly is good but I never drove on it, I bought it from someone that had it as a spare and than sold his Tercel4wd.
