Delta 260 or 272 regrind?

Post by belair0607 »

I am in the process of negotiating on an 87 automatic with 84k miles. I have been trolling for a couple of days and really am more impressed with the car's potential after studying this site. Great resource!!! Thanks
I will indeed convert to a Weber and get a Delta regrind. He says he offers a 260 or 272. So far through search it seems the 260 has been chosen, but with the automatic and trying to maintain some highway speeds, would it be better to go 272?
Thanks in advance

the 272 is gonna give you more power but its gonna make that power higher in the rev range. which depending on how you drive may or not help you. The 260 is gonna help and give you more torque down low but probably won't pull as good near the end. For me living in Los angeles with crazy drivers going 90 all the time, i need all the power i can get and don't mind revving the shit out of it to get up to speed. so that works for me. However also living in los angeles its rare to be moving more then parking lot speed but when it traffic is moving.... its moving

The best performance mod for an automatic tercel is a manual transmission, in my opinion.

I agree on that mt swap. Also if you ever have to do a head gasket soon you can clean up the head casting, polish the exhaust, and port match the intake and maybe some slightly over size valves while your in there. nothing too crazy like .1-.2 mm larger tops. all this except the valves are free. i have a good video here
