The currency exchange is almost par, but I wonder what the shipping cost from Australia to Canada would be?

Lovells and King Springs are reputable after market suppliers down here. I've had King Springs on my last two cars and they are a great firm ride

so did you actually get any noticeable lift out of these springs? or are these more of an OE replacement?

Level or lift, that is the question.

Hi all I bought the standard height but that still gave me about an inch over the older worn springs. I have read that they are about 10mm over standard height but are also heavy duty and work well.

the factory struts on all T4wd are the same and were intended to be rebuilt, but no one sells seals and kits for them (you could piece the parts together perhaps), but no one does that anymore (I suspect rebuilding struts is a lot art). you use the factory strut housing, dump out the internal tube, shaft, oil and plunger and install the strut insert into the housing. so the cartridges work fine in the strut assembly, though frankly I do not think it is as good a quality as the original toyota parts.

Many of the Tercels already have an insert installed by previous owners, or repair shops. if that is the case, you will not be able to rebuild them unless you can find a set of untampered original factory struts, which I suspect after 30 years would be difficult.

When I worked for the Nissan racing program in the late '70's, we would take the factory strut, cut them down to lower the car, re-valve and install different weight oil. No inserts were used, the modified factory struts were actually better. Nissan would sell them as racing struts, even though the quality and basic design was factory production struts.

Sean,

Petros is saying the actual strut if replaced once already (the part you are replacing) cannot be rebuilt. If ORIGINAL, you could rebuild with seals etc. You will most likely pull the strut out after screwing the nut off and slide your new strut in.

Here is a pic of front springs I received today, hope to install soon.
