Carburetor problem
Carburetor problem
So my car doesnt have the power my old car use too or get up and go (not really power), so i started looking all over for bad vacuum lines. Couldn't find any but i did notice the secondary butterfly inside the carburetor was not opening. I looked all over the linkage to try to find something missing but nothing was. I would cover the carburetor a little and notice the diaphragm would actuate however it wouldnt open the butterfly or spray the 2nd jet.. i could do it manually with my finger of course, it just seems there would be a spring there or something.. has anyone gone through this before? Maybe someone could give me a couple pictures of their linkage and secondary diaphram? I will make something to open it if needed but i don't want to mess anything up! Thank you for any advice in advance!

Re: Carburetor problem
I would remove the diaphragm and apply suction to it with a removed vac hose. Does it hold vacuum? If it functions I would check the vac hole in carb to see if its plugged by blowing air in.
Use a good quality Phillips screw driver cause those screws are usually pretty tight.

Love those Tercell 4x4 wagons but they sure suffer from road noise.

Re: Carburetor problem
The secondary is vac operated, so make sure the diaphragm is good, and nothing is stuck.

Re: Carburetor problem
It is a manual, so i looked and looked at it again and figured out the diaphram arm came off ,the clip i guess disconnected when i had it apart for a little overhaul of piston rings and some extensive head maintenance., still ran a little rough when i put the clip back on so i went from 10 degrees advanced to 15 degrees and it seems to run ALOT better and have a decent amount of power to get up hills (all 62hp). Like i said though i appreciate everyone giving some input on what would be the next step.
