First lisenced drive :)

Post by NWMO »

Hey all,

After my wife got the "Rusty Frog" inspected and lisenced yesterday, I drove it to work for the first time. Mostly hwy (65 mph), some Interstate (70 mph), 70 miles round trip. It drove great, really likes the highway. Interstate travel 65-70 with engine @ 3200 rpm, very comfortable imo.
Still plenty to do and I hope the fuel guage is acting up, as it dropped significantly faster than it should.

congrats chris! glad to hear it's finally in the realm of daily drivers.

i wouldn't worry about what the gauge says. they are notorious for incorrect readings. make sure to track your mileage though, just to be sure. 30 mpg is a good average to aim for, higher in warm weather and lower in cold. my last one averaged 34 or 35 mpg while i had it, and that was in the winter. i was very impressed.

70 mile round trip to work, that's 113 km! is that a daily commute? that would be my nightmare. my work commute is 15 km (or 9.3 miles) round trip. i bike it in nice weather, like today.

dlb,

It only takes about 35 minutes and I enjoy driving through the country, wind down time. My preference is to live where I have some property, privacy and semi-pure living :). We have 19 acres, my wife and son keep about 30 chickens and I have 3 honey bee hives.

Tom,

You'll get to see it sometime this summer/fall, looking forward to the drive/visit. Unfortunately the name RUSTY frog fits. Fortunately, I'm quite stubborn and will shadetree mechanic, welder, engineer etc. and keep putting the miles on :).

Mine is about 8 miles, I would love to take a bicycle, but there's a huge hill, a 70 MPH highway, and the drivers here flat out scare me.
